Homecoming Final
Chipley 35 Vernon 0
We would like to thank everyone for coming out tonight and being a part of 2026 Homecoming. This was a very special night in Chipley. Having Amp Lee here along with all his family and being able to retire his jersey was special. Having Coach Whitcomb here with his family was very special too. The most memorable time was seeing the two of them together reminiscing about old times and being able to spend time together.
Very proud of our kids! Thought we played hard. Young men managed a challenging week head on. Kept the focus best they could and played well. Hats off to Coach Buggs and Vernon. Playing a lot of young kids. I got a lot of respect for Charles Buggs. I’d let my own son play for him and that’s the highest honor I could give any coach.
I would like to thank the teachers & staff that worked so hard to make homecoming special. Tracy Harris, Kristi Broom, Alex Webb and many others.
Many thanks as well to our Varsity Cheer Squad led by Coaches Amanda Gray & Carissa Hangar. These young ladies brought the school spirit and energy and we appreciate them very much.
We appreciate our Gold Sponsor for tonight Innovations Credit Union. Mr Kenny Ray Mitchel and company do a lot for us and we appreciate them very much.
Special thank you to John & Alana Franklin for providing the truck and float for the football team to ride on. Very impressed with the design and amount of work that went into decorating the float and mounting the comfortable seat for Coach Whitcomb and Amp to sit on.
Special thanks to CHS Administrators Steve Griffin & Richard Davenport for their support during Homecoming Week.
Thank you to Superintendent Thomas Register & all school board members for their support of all Washington County. It was a special night in Washington County tonight and regardless of the game having everyone together in one stadium competing and being able to participate was awesome.
Another group I often forget to thank go takes care of our players is the CHS Guidance Dept. Mrs Sarah Short and Jessica Carter do a great job with our kids and scheduling and testing to make sure things run smooth and these jokers get the classes they need and the schedules they need. Thank you !
Thank you to the Washington County Maintenance Department Greg Mayo, Eric Brown and my main man Casey for all their help with stuff around CHS and Mr Sonny Leavins for his help as well. Jokers worked hard this week helping get things right for homecoming , fixing doors and putting up shot clocks you name it.
Thank you to Officer Nellums and the WCSD and Washington County EMS for keeping our facility safe and people safe during the games.
Thank you to the Washington County Bus Drivers for always supporting and providing us with a 2nd driver. Mrs Janice drove for us tonight and we appreciate her for driving the second bus tonight for us. And for staying late and busing the kids back tonight.
The field looked amazing again! Can’t thank Philip Adams and Tonka Taylor and Wilbur Brininger and all those guys enough. Love how they painted the field special for Coach Whitcomb & Amp. Thank you!
