Last week at Veterans Park Community Center, our campers had an unforgettable experience when student-athletes from San Diego State University Athletics stopped by to share their stories, inspire our youth, and promote the importance of staying active, healthy, and involved in sports.

The athletes spoke about their athletic journeys, answered questions, played games with campers in the gym, and signed autographs for the kids. It was an exciting opportunity for our campers to connect with positive role models and learn valuable lessons about teamwork, dedication, and perseverance.

We were also excited to welcome CBS Sports, who covered the event as part of a feature on Katie Senn and her nomination for the prestigious CWSA Inspiration Award.

A huge thank you to the SDSU student-athletes, Katie Senn, and CBS Sports for making this such a memorable day for our campers! 💙💛

CVRec Leader of the Season: Marcel Marquez

Please join us in celebrating Marcel Marquez, our CVRec Leader of the Season!

Marcel is a dedicated member of the team at Norman Park Senior Center, where she goes above and beyond to create meaningful programs and experiences for our senior community. From leading the Norman Park Sole Walkers walking group and teaching pickleball clinics to coordinating exciting senior field trips, Marcel continuously helps participants stay active, connected, and engaged.

Most recently, Marcel stepped up to take on an out-of-class assignment while the center awaited a new supervisor, providing leadership and support to both staff and participants during the transition.

Thank you, Marcel, for your hard work, positive attitude, and commitment to serving our community. Your dedication makes a difference every day, and we are proud to recognize you as our Leader of the Season!

All Staff Training 2026

This past Saturday, the Chula Vista Parks & Recreation team came together for our annual All Staff Training!

Staff participated in trainings focused on safety procedures, customer service, program operations, and best practices to help prepare for a successful summer season of programs, camps, and community events.

A huge thank you to all of our dedicated team members who attended and continue to make a positive impact in the lives of Chula Vista residents every day. Your hard work, professionalism, and commitment help create memorable experiences for our community year-round.

🏕️ Snores N’ S’mores Family Campout 🌙🔥

Join us for Montevalle Community Center’s Annual Snores N’ S’mores Family Campout!

📅 Friday, June 12 | 5PM – Saturday, June 13 | 10AM

Bring your camping gear and get ready for a fun-filled overnight adventure in the park with family and friends! Each registered family will receive a 20’ x 20’ campsite space and enjoy a night packed with activities including:

🌭 Hot dog dinner🎨 Arts & crafts🎲 Games🎬 Movie in the park🔥 S’mores under the stars

Participants must bring their own tent and sleeping bags. We also recommend bringing extra snacks and drinks to stay comfortable throughout the evening.

✨ Snack Donation RequestIf you would like to donate snacks for this year’s Flashlight Snack Hunt, we kindly ask that all items be individually wrapped and completely sealed.

Snack donations can be dropped off at the front counter during check-in and are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support in helping make this event extra special!

Little Heroes in Action! 🚒👩‍⚕️👮‍♂️

Today we celebrated Community Helper Day with our Tiny Tots class at Montevalle Community Center!

Our little learners showed up dressed as their favorite community helpers and had a blast learning, playing, and exploring the important roles that help keep our community strong. 💛

So many smiles, so much creativity, and a whole lot of fun!
