I find the majority of my time teaching class is spent on one steps followed by self defense. We always get into the reasoning behind one steps. One steps are not self defense. No attacker is going to attack you in a linear manner. However, one steps are a phenomenal way to learn numerous skills such as:

1. Distance
2. Timing
3. Focus
4. Control
5. Relative positioning
6. Blocking
7. Technique
8. Repetition
9. Angles
10. Critical thinking skills

These skills are all learned and developed in a safe environment with one steps.

Grandmaster Bill Miller of Professional Karate Studio (Minnesota) is one of SMK Sr. Grandmaster "Jay" Hyon's direct students! Sr. Grandmaster Hyon was a direct student of SMK founder Byung Jick Ro.

The World Song Moo Kwan Federation and the United States Black Belt Federation have worked out an agreement, where, as long as you are a member in good standing with the WSMKF and hold a black belt certificate from the WSMKF, you will automatically receive rank recognition from the USBBF, once applied for. I strongly urge all to take advantage of this opportunity from a great and longstanding organization!

I had a great conversation with GM Gerard Robbins today about the history of Tae Kwon Do and Song Moo Kwan. GM Robbins is the founder of https://taekwondohalloffame.com/museum/ and one of the early fighters in Tae Kwon Do tournaments. I don't want to make him feel old but I remember seeing him at tournaments when I was a kid. He's a very knowledgeable gentleman and wishes to preserve the history and heritage of all Tae Kwon Do.
