Yoseikan II, LLC ( Karate Dojo) is a chartered school (1972) of the U. S. Chito-ryu Karate-do Federat Its roots stretch back to Okinawa and ultimately, to China.

Chito-ryu is the Japanese style of Karate taught at Yoseikan Cincinnati. It was founded by Doctor Tsuyoshi Chitose (1898—1984). Yoseikan II is a chartered school of the U. Chito-ryu Karate-do Federation (U.S. Chito-Kai). It was established in 1972 by Lawrence C. Hawkins, Jr., Esq., Kyoshi, Hachi Dan (8th Degree black belt). Happy Birthday Okusan! We celebrate the birthday of Barbara E. Dometrich, Hachi Dan, co-founder and chair of the United States Chito-ryu Karate Federation. She began her study of karate in 1962.

We celebrate the life of Chitose, Dr. Tsuyoshi (O Sensei), 10th Dan, founder of our style, Chito-Ryu. Born 10/18/1898 (died 6/5/1984) in Naha, Okinawa.

The United States Chito-ryu Karate-do celebrates his birthday every year with a national clinic and banquet which is being held this weekend. We look forward to training and celebration; as it's always good to be with more of our karate family.

Notes on their military service:
William J. Dometrich, Hanshi, Ku Dan, (1935-2012), Co-Founder United States Chito-ryu Karate-do Federation. Hanshi Dometrich began his military service in March 1951. His first assignment was to the 101st Airborne Division and later to the 11th Airborne Division at Fort Campbell. Once at the 11th Airborne he volunteered for assignment to the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team stationed in Korea at the outbreak of the Korean war. It was during his military service that Hanshi Dometrich was introduced to karate and began his training. He returned to the U.S. with his Army unit and completed his military service in 1954.

Lawrence C. Hawkins, Jr., Esq., Hanshi, Hachi Dan, (1944-2020), Chairman Emeritus USCKF; Established Yoseikan Cincinnati.
Hanshi Hawkins joined the United States Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corp. during college. After graduation, his first Air Force assignment was pilot training at Reece Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas. After six months of flight school, he was transferred to Wichita, Kansas, where he served as Supply Operations Officer at McConnell Air Force Base for four years. In June of 1971, he earned the rank of Captain and his honorable discharge from the Air Force.
