Every so often, a piece of equipment shows up that feels less like gear, and more like a statement.
The Bastet 2.0 from just washed ashore at The Iron Clinic, and I’m not gonna lie, this thing might have immediately ruined every other adjustable bench for me.
The pad is dense, supportive, and that textured surface is next-level grippy. Like, sit down once and you’re basically signing a lease. The knurled handles, the stainless steel plate on the angle adjuster, the engraved frame logos, everything feels more intentional, more refined. Even the head adjustment mechanism feels smoother and more dialed in than before.
I ran it through a full chest and shoulders session today (dumbbell bench, seated overheads, lateral raises, flies, even a few weird combo sets I made up on the fly just because I could) and it held rock solid through all of it. No wobble, no pad shift, no nonsense.
And somewhere around the third set of dumbbell flyes, I started laughing mid-rep because the grip on this thing is so aggressive it’s basically trying to anchor your life's story to the bench.
I tried to shift myself at one point and only my hips wiggled, my shoulders having a firmer grasp than Rose's promise to Jack (there was room for them both in that floating door!). Like it’s saying “nah bro, this bench is your life raft.” Between the texture and the stability (it has huge feet!), it almost feels like Mikolo’s engineers built it out of spite for every slippery vinyl pad that’s ever existed.
But once the waves calmed down and the pump settled, I started appreciating the design on a different level. That embossed logo isn’t just branding, it’s craftsmanship. The texture, the stitching, the overall aesthetic, it fits right in here at The Iron Clinic like it was always meant to be.
This was literally day one, first session, but if first impressions mean anything, the Bastet 2.0 feels like a serious upgrade in every category that matters. ‼️Over the next few months, I’ll be putting it through the paces with the Anubis 2.0 for a full deep dive review to see how they both hold up long-term‼️
