Over the weekend our team was faced with even more adversity. The entire season has been filled with undeserved adversity thru injury or attrition. The true character of a person or team is how you handle those times. Friday, Saturday and Sunday this team showed their true colors. Like a family they bonded together to bring home second place in a very tough tournament with very good teams.
Our record isn’t great and we’ve pushed them to the limit with expectations. As I look back on my 5 years with the Haubner/Cincinnati Hornets this group of 10 players and their families have felt more like a family than any team I’ve coached in the past 20 years. The commitment to our team, program and coaches is something that is to be commended.
As we play our last home game this year and get ready to head to Gulf Shores for what will be an experience they will never forget. I want to say thank you to the parents, families and most importantly these 10 players for what they give, for how they act and how they overcome.
Congratulations on this weekends success and the young men you are becoming. I’m looking forward to what the future holds for this group on and off the field. Thank you for letting me and my family be a part of your journey.

Super proud of our team and the progress we’re making. Last week’s runner up in the All American Classic at River City West.
This weekend we’re in Dayton for the USSSA Super NIT. It’s going to tough with all the talent up there.
These guys will play in front scouts for the first real time and that’s exciting!

This is from a friend of mine. He’s a high school coach.
Tomorrow is final cuts. It's a day that I know all of us dread, but it's a day that literally changed my life.

After making the freshman team and then JV my sophomore year, reality set in my junior year. I did very minimal work to make myself better and thought my "talent" was good enough, but I was wrong. I was cut.

I was devastated, but I didn't let it define me. I was bound and determined to make varsity my senior year. I could have let it crush me, I could have quit, I could have done a thousand other things, but I had a goal in mind and set to achieve it.

Fortunate enough to have great friends, teammates, and family for support, I made myself better. I went to camps, I trained, lifted weights, and did all the things I should have so I would not have that devastated feeling again.

Fast forward to my Senior year I was one of the last to make the team. One thing I will never forget is what Coach Larry Pornoy told me, "Never be satisfied!" I was happy I made the team, but I had no idea if I was going to play, so I continued to work hard.

When an opportunity arose I made the best of it and came out on top. Even though I was far from the best pitcher/player on the team, I was able to contribute successfully with the help and support of some of the best teammates I've ever had.

I know this feeling and I'm fortunate enough to teach it... And at that very moment, when I was cut, it literally paved the way to a very successful college baseball career, and I'd like to say a coaching career...

Moral of the story is: A heart break sucks. You'll have your ups and you'll have your downs, but if you truly want something, get off your ass and do something about it!

A HUGE thank you to all former teammates, coaches, players, and former athletes for this life of baseball, I literally couldn't have done it without you ⚾️❤️...
