Congratulations to all of our junior high wrestlers who competed this week! The Ohio Junior High State Tournament is one of the toughest tournaments in the country, and when the dust settled, the Panthers were the only Cincinnati team represented on the big board.
Congratulations to Ethan Suer, who finished as the state runner-up for the second year in a row. He dropped an exciting 11–9 finals match and added to the excitement by taking the defending state champion to his back in the 3rd period.
Another shoutout to Bentley Craig, who battled back to earn a 7th place finish, going 6–1 on Sunday. Wrestling seven matches in one day is an incredible accomplishment and shows true toughness.
Proud of all of our guys for the way they competed this weekend!

Halfway through the second day, it’s been a big weekend for our guys at the OAC Junior High State Tournament!
We are currently sitting 15th overall and proud to be the only Cincinnati team on the big board!
Leading the way, Ethan Suer has battled into the state semifinals, scoring 18 team points with an impressive run that includes multiple pins and a major decision.
We’ve had several other wrestlers contribute valuable team points and show toughness throughout the tournament:
• Luke Johnson – went 3-2 with 7 team points and a strong consolation run
• Bentley Craig – currently 4-1 with 8 team points and multiple wins on the backside
• James Ebbers – currently 4-1 with 8 team points, earning dominant bonus-point victories
• Tucker Kurzhals – went 3-2 with 6 team points
• Chase Berry – went 3-2 with 4 team points
Cole LaCalameto has gained valuable experience competing in his first state tournament after starting wrestling midway through the season.
This group has competed hard, battled through adversity, and represented our program the right way all weekend.
Still more wrestling to go—let’s keep it rolling! 💪
