After a lifetime of doubting Joe Flacco’s prowess and being firmly on the “Joe Flacco is NOT elite” side of the debate, I am fully prepared to take it all back. You’re now looking at the world’s biggest Flacco Fan. Normally on Sundays with a Browns’ QB it’s like a choose your own adventure Goosebumps story where you don’t know what’s going to happen next but you do know at some point it’s going to be horrific. Except Sunday, for what felt like the very first time in my life, when our QB had the ball, I wasn’t on the edge of my seat expecting the worst. Like we could all collectively unclench our bu******ks and just let Flacco cook because he knew exactly what to do. He gave our receivers, especially Njoku, opportunities to make huge plays and he kept the game calm when things could’ve gone South. Stefanski coached a hell of a game and despite injuries to Grant, Watson, Chubb, Conklin, Jones, Phillips, McLeod, Ward, Thornill, & Ward, he had a plan for that next man up. We looked every bit deserving of that W and I can’t believe I’m saying this but Cleveland, we’re in it. Everything that could have gone wrong this season has gone wrong but somehow, this team is still fighting and is still winning. I know these last few games are going to be a test of our endurance and ability to stay healthy above all else but, man this team’s got that DAWG in them and I’m here for it.

Well Browns fans, it was fun while it lasted. I’ll be honest, the original recap was a lot more positive but after today’s news, it almost feels cruel to reflect on one of the best wins I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. From the rough start to the miraculous finish, I’m still in awe of that team win. And nothing will beat the vision of seeing our entire offense push Ford forward for a first down. That play encompassed what our season has been all about; that no one on this team can do it alone. Which is why I think this team can still make the playoffs. It’s never been about one guy or one position. We live and breathe by remembering that it’s the next man up. Jack Conklin out? Big Thanos time. Chubb out? We sign Hunt and he scores TDs in the last 5 games. And it’s been this way all year. We have depth on this chart and there’s no reason we can’t expect this team to come together, like it has been doing, and fight. Our defense is still the best in the league, we beat the 49ers with our back-up QB just a few weeks ago, and maybe, just maybe, by putting DTR in a game where he doesn’t find out the morning of that he’s starting might be the opportunity he needs to show he can hang with the big boys. I commend any player for wanting to play through the pain but this Browns team wasn’t ever going to revolve around just one guy and nor should it. So get well soon, Watson but if we’re being honest, we’ve only seen you play what, 7 games in a Browns uniform? Maybe 2024 will be *your* year but this year, because of Myles, Njoku, Hopkins, Cooper, Bitonio, Ward, Teller, JOK and every other guy fighting for this season to matter, because they refuse to quit, and because they believe in this team- this year belongs to the Browns.

The football gods giveth and the football gods taketh. And sometimes, you have a player that’s *actually* a real life football god and is capable of single handedly destroying an entire team. That my friends, is Myles Garrett. He not only is Herculean in his ability to manhandle offensive lines and sack the QB, but he makes everyone around him better. Everyone elevates their performance to match that of the beast and I feel like it’s ultimately what led to the casual ZERO points and season low 58 yards allowed. Those numbers are INSANE and our D is in a true league of their own. Denzel Ward showed up and had himself a game, Tomlinson was lights out, bringing big Thanos energy, and with 7 sacks and 2 interceptions in total, our entire defense made a statement. A much needed one too before our rematch with Baltimore. Offensively, we were clicking, albeit against a horrible team. Loved the redo of the helmet bounce pass, except this time instead of screwing us over it ended in a beautiful little snag by Cooper. Poetry in motion, folks. And Cooper looked so good. If there’s one guy besides Njoku I want to catch every pass ever, it’s Amari. He’s so solid and when he has a good day, we always win. That’s a fact, don’t even need to check it. Our running game is chugging along, although I still wish it were Chubbing along. And Dawand Jones is truly something special. I love that kid. Deshaun needs to buy that man all the presents for protecting him as well as he has. This rookie has stepped up and rumor has it, is moving over to LT this week with the injury to Big Jed. Even against a subpar team, that was a solid team win with a lot to be proud of- from the playing to the coaching, I can’t get enough of these Browns.

With Deshaun Watson returning to the starting lineup tomorrow let’s look back on the 3 games that PJ Walker put together while stepping up from the practice squad to help lead the Browns to a 2-1 record in three tightly fought games.

The Browns were one tipped INT from escaping with a third straight win. The play call wasn’t great and the pass was in trouble even if it made it past Jamal Adams helmet. An unfortunate end to a gutsy performance from Walker who connected on a few darts downfield and showed more legs than we’ve seen while lowering his shoulder for extra yards in the games final frame. The Browns combatted the Seahawks pressure with an array of creative screens including 2 perfectly executed plays to David Njoku - one of which he took for a TD and the other for a 40 yard chunk play. Unfortunately once the Browns fell behind for good, Walker wasn’t able to orchestrate another miracle. The past 3 weeks did not come close to matching Jacoby Brissett performance from last season, but Walker definitely earned my respect for the shots he took, the throws he made and the grit he showed.

With Deshaun Watson returning to the starting lineup tomorrow let’s look back on the 3 games that PJ Walker was under center for the Browns.

After a disastrous start to the game from Deshaun Watson - PJ Walker entered late in the first quarter and dropped back 37 times while leading the Browns down the field for a game winning touchdown. Fans will likely remember the questionable penalties and goal line calling and ultimate plunge narrowly across the goal line by Kareem Hunt for the deciding score - but all of that was only made possible because of the biggest throw of the season by Walker. 2:27 left in the 4th, 3rd and 10, Walker dropped a 30 yard rainbow in the bucket to Elijah Moore while taking a shot to the chest. An elite play in a critical moment that made the victory possible.

It was also Walker’s best game as a pure passer (16 darts, 72.41% on target percentage) as the Browns provided him with the cleanest pocket of his 3 games under center (32.43% pressure rate).

With Deshaun Watson returning to the starting lineup tomorrow let’s look back on the 3 games that PJ Walker put together while stepping up from the practice squad to help lead the Browns to a 2-1 record in three tightly fought games.

Walker’s first game against San Francisco went as many expected with two rough interceptions and a near back breaking turnover while throwing into triple coverage as the Browns drove to kick what would eventually become the game winning field goal.

However, Walker also exhibited a live arm while still maintaining a deft touch in the screen game which would become a signature of the Browns offense during his three game stretch. Walker was able to quickly get the ball into hands of playmakers courtesy of the Browns game plan while still connecting on several deep balls to Amari Cooper to help put Cleveland into scoring position twice. However his best throw of the day came on a gutsy, tight window toss on 4th and 4 late in the game to David Bell to keep a Browns drive alive. It was a solid performance given the circumstances and one that could have looked better if not for a several ineligible man downfield penalties that eliminated big plays from David Njoku.

In spite of a step back against Baltimore, this defense has still been one of the best in the league through the first quarter of the season. Each group is playing quality football with standout performances in coverage from the Browns trio of corners - Ward, Newsome and Emerson, players that are always around the football in Delpit and JOK, an early season breakout perfromance from DT Maurice Hurst and the best edge rusher in the game in Myles Garrett.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson - 50.30 Week 4 SNAP Score

Let me start off by saying that Deshaun Watson should have at least started the game on Sunday. Instead, Watson stayed in street clothes while Dorian Thompson-Robinson was subjected to brutal afternoon at the hands of the Baltimore pass rush (14 QB hits). When DTR did have time to the throw the ball the results were less than spectacular as he registered 11 poor throws (the same amount Watson has had all year) and 3 interceptions. Now that the negatives are out of the way - I thought DTR showed a lot of toughness, an ability to evade the rush when there was very little daylight and several flashes of impressive arm talent. However - ball security is of utmost importance in this league and DTR found out on Sunday that some plays should not be attempted at the professional level.
