Good afternoon,
Due to the 4th of July holiday, there will be no Iaido practice tomorrow!

Due to special Jodo practice going on this weekend, we'll need to cancel Iaido tonight. Kendo will refund as scheduled on Wednesday.

Last week, some of us traveled to Indianapolis to visit Imafuji-sensei at the Gotokukan dojo. It was a tough time, but extremely worth it! It's good to travel to different dojos from time to time to spar with people you normally don't.

Awesome godo keiko! The East Central US Kendo Federation members came all the way from Ohio and Kentucky to Gotokukan Kendo Dojo, Indiana this morning. Thank you very much for coming! We had a blast!

Practice started a little late on Wednesday due to a little visitor. It eventually flew out the door and hopefully is living it's awesome, batty, life.

A visitor from Transylvania caused us to end class a little early today...

Some members from the Osu Kendo Club and the University of Cincinnati Kendo Club (UCKC) paid us a visit last Wednesday for practice! Then some of us went to UDF for some refreshments afterwards (unfortunately, they stopped selling ice cream by time we got there).

We've actually been practicing under the Queen City Kendo Club name for almost a year now, but my schedule has been so hectic as of late that I've only just begun to make the necessary changes to our online presence.

It's been almost a decade since we've had a dojo location in Kentucky, so we thought that it's high time that we change the name to better reflect where we practice. We chose the name Queen City because that's the nickname of Cincinnati, which is where we currently practice.

Here's some awesome nuggets of wisdom for your Kendo!

Kendo Sanmai I have large stack of unread, or partly-read, kendo books in my closet. I pick them up from time to time and flick through them. Also in the stack is, I must admit, books I read (some only sort-of)…

After a brief hiatus for a few weeks, we had our Kendo practice last week. It's great to be back in the dojo again!

Good news!

After having to close our practices for a few weeks to monitor the rising COVID cases, we were recently given the go-ahead to start up practices again! Due to the ongoing situation, all COVID protocols will remain in place, so that means that masks need to be worn at all times in the building, including while practicing!

Our first practice will be Iaido tomorrow (Friday) at 7:00 PM. See y'all there!

Good evening everyone,

On Sunday, the AUSKF sent an email recommending that we cancel our in person practices for a few weeks due to the recent surge of COVID after the holiday travel season.

I regret to inform you that, due to that recommendation, we will need to pause our practices for the time being until the situation calms down a bit, which we hope happens by the end of the month.

One thing I can do in the meantime is to hold practices over Zoom. I plan on holding one at 7:30 tomorrow for about a half hour if anyone is interested in joining. Instead of trying to run this like a regular practice due to the limited space and time that we have with practice, I'd like to run this like a seminar of sorts to go over some concepts that we generally don't have a lot of time to explain during regular practice. If you're able to follow along during the session, that's awesome! But if you can't due to space limitations, that's also fine. You can watch and ask questions as well!
