You come from somewhere. You believe in something. You want certain things for your baby.

I'm Taryn, and as your doula, I lift your voice to be heard while supporting you through fertility, pregnancy, labor, birth, and beyond.

This exactly. Our long terms goals for the Muslim community.

What a mad weekend. We have had some supreme feedback from this article and we are so grateful to have had this coverage.

and myself have worked stupid hours, on zero pay, with a baby happening in the middle of the training week just to make this come to life. And that’s not even the hard part. The hard part is all the stuff that comes next.

The dream has never ever been getting paid though. It would be great but we bang on about it all the time, the real dream is community. The real dream is to change the narrative around birth and what it looks like. The real dream is to acknowledge what hospital births look like and go in there and offer the support for the hardest bits.

Birth keepers, doulas, howdies call them what you want, but the people tending to the mothers. The people out there in charge of offering the emotional support, they ALWAYS existed. They always will. We just want them to be accessible for people who need them.

Long live and it’s beautiful sense of community and it’s amazing and astounding group of volunteers so far.

What a trip 🧡🌚🌝

We are thrilled to announce that Rixa Freeze's Project ECHO lecture is now available for free! It is titled "Vaginal breech birth: Why it's important and how it works" and was sponsored by the University of Utah. To access the lecture: https://breech.thinkific.com/courses/why-how-eng

This is a great introduction to vaginal breech birth for both parents and providers. It explains why vaginal breech training is important and then shows the normal steps of physiological breech birth, including deviations from each step.

At the end of the lecture, Dr. Freeze answers audience questions. A resident also presents a case study, and we hear responses from BWB's David Hayes and Kristine Lauria.

Let’s normalize normal.

1. Birthing 2-3 weeks on EITHER side of the due date is NORMAL.
2. YES, I am aware that I just said mamas have to chill out about a 4-6 week window.
3. AND THEIR RELATIVES TOO LOL.
4. YES, I absolutely do understand that this is not the message most mothers hear from health care providers.
5. NO, I am not naïve or uninformed.
6. No one has told young mothers that it is NORMAL to have sporadic and then increasing contractions throughout the whole last month. This is a biological system, and it’s warming up and things have to come online and there’s a lot of good work being done before the “big day“.
7. No one thinks that when we go to see an incredible theater production that they started the show the day of the performance? All kinds of things have been going on behind the scenes to make the big day come together.
8. Dates are only PART of the picture!! How are mom and baby doing? How are vital signs? Is the baby passing the kick test? SEE LINK IN BIO FOR THE ✨REAL✨ DIRECTIONS!! Has this been a stressful pregnancy? Have either of them been exposed to big concerns or contaminants?
9. Induction has its place; it’s most effective and the least damaging when there are legit concerns and alternatives have been exhausted.
10. Doulas and midwives are often excellent advocates.
11. True informed consent means each mother would be able to make the best decision for her and her baby free of cohesion and with plenty of support and information. No one answer for everyone, of course. All inductions aren’t bad, however they should not be the first and only option so casually & routinely to so many.
12. 💖💗💖💫

This is a life that should have been filled with adorable onesies and snuggles from all his aunties.
Taken away for greed, for spite, for insecurities, for inequalities, for lack of moral courage, for silence.

He deserved to be covered in kisses.
He deserved to be swaddled by big sisters and carried by big brothers.
He deserved to grow up.

His mother deserved to be showered in love and congratulations.
She deserved to be able to hold close and breathe deep the sweet scent of this child she carried and grew and talked to and prayed for and loved.

They deserved to be wrapped up in one another in bonding, learning one another, loving one another.

His life was worth getting a little uncomfortable for,
because his death was far more than a little uncomfortable.
