Truth and Recovery

For much of my addiction, I would have told you that I valued honesty. I knew lying was wrong, and I didn't necessarily think of myself as a dishonest person. The problem was that I became very good at deciding when the whole truth wasn't necessary. I could almost always rationalize why telling the truth—or at least the whole truth—wasn't the best thing to do in a particular situation....

Truth is essential to recovery, but it doesn’t always feel safe. Discover how fear, control, and the need for safety can lead us to hide the whole truth.

Angel Tree Christmas season has officially begun.

Across the country, moms and dads in prison are registering their children to receive a Christmas gift through Prison Fellowship Angel Tree.

📣We need your help to bring the love of Jesus to kids this Christmas. YOU can register your church to help bring Christmas joy to kids who are missing their parent in prison.

How Angel Tree works:

✏️A mom or dad in prison signs up their child(ren) for Angel Tree Christmas.

🎁Local churches buy and wrap gifts for each child.

⛪Then church volunteers deliver the gifts in the parent’s name—along with a personal message from Mom or Dad, and the Gospel message.

👼As your church’s Angel Tree coordinator, you’ll make a difference in the lives of children with a parent in prison. Your church will buy and wrap presents, invite them to a Christmas party or deliver their gifts and the Gospel message, and most importantly, bring love and hope to families in your community. Our Angel Tree team will guide you every step of the way.

Three Words That Kept Me Stuck

For our midday keynote on the mainstage at the SOAR Impact Conference we will be graced by our very own founder, Leslie Thomas, and Men’s Director, Rob Schettler.

26 years ago, Leslie believed survivors deserved a community where healing was possible and no one had to walk the road to recovery alone. Her session, “The Impact of SOAR,” is the story of that vision, what it took to build this ministry, and what it has become.

Rob joins her on stage to add his own vision for the men’s ministry within SOAR. Expanding support to men is crucial to fulfilling the mission and heart of SOAR. He brings his nearly three decades of pastoral care and a heart for creating compassionate spaces where healing can happen.

Together, they’ll share that you are not alone, you are seen, and healing is possible. We all get to participate in that healing, whether we are survivors or supporting survivors.
