Carolina White Sox 2028/2029

The Mountains were not kind over the weekend as we finished with a 1-1-1 record. Even with our record not being what we wanted, defensively we didn’t commit a single error in 48 chances over the three games.

Talan Meagher (P/MIF, ‘29, Garner) led the way offensively hitting .500 with a triple. Talan also earned our loan win on the mound. Entering the game after we fell behind 6-3, he held the opposing team scoreless allowing us to mount a comeback. Finn West (OF/P, ‘29, Cardinal Gibbons) tossed 4 innings of relief allowing a single run in our 4-4 tie.

Resting up the next few weeks before we head to Guilford College for a Team Camp.

With a loss and a tie on Saturday, hoping to close out this mountain trip with a strong showing.

Prepping for a weekend in the mountains.

Really proud of the work our guys put in this weekend going 3-1 against an 18u, two 17u’s and a 16u squad. Had a lot of great conversations with some college coaches about our guys and what their futures look like. Thankfully, every time I bragged on a kid pregame, they played well and Coach didn’t look like an idiot.

A lot of the little things done right that don’t show up in the stats column. Garrett Stevens (2028, 1B, North Duplin) made some great picks at first all weekend. Trace Taylor’s (2029, MIF) range at SS, kept a lot of balls in the infield that would led to runs if they got through.

An ugly W is still a W. 3-1 on the weekend.

Closing out the weekend tonight at 5:00 against another strong squad.

Split the day to fall to 2-1. Good battle with ZT 16u and never got anything going against DLA 2027 (Coach got it wrong in GameChanger). 1 more to go at Campbell University tomorrow to close out the weekend.

Back to work tonight with a double header at FTCC.
