A tropical depression is heading toward the upper Texas coast, and will bring heavy rainfall into the region on Tuesday and potentially Tuesday night. We have put a Stage 2 flood alert into place for areas along and east of Interstate 45, and Stage 1 to the west.

In today’s post we provide the latest information on Invest 97L, which is meandering west toward Texas this morning. The primary threat is heavy rain and the potential for flash flooding, particularly east of Houston heading into midweek. We’ll be providing regular updates today and Tuesday.

Today will be Houston's hottest day of the year so far, with 100s likely. Matt says evening thunderstorms will follow. Bertha's beginning to slowly weaken, and its remnant rain is likely to hug the coast tomorrow and push inland well south of Houston. It will help temperatures ease back a bit however.
