Here's a chase video from ECTA Motorsports Events at the ECTA Maxton 1/2 mile on June 6-7.

Many people helped me to prepare for my first land-speed racing (LSR) event, but I'd like to specifically thank Steve Atwell, Ed Buczeskie, Steve Strupp, and my crew member Sal for all the help. I'd also like to thank the team from Big Red for their advice in Columbus years ago and Team Rustang for their advice during the event. See you next year!

We made it to Maxton for the 1/2 mile event!!

Today, the strategy is to get a few shakedown runs in; test all the changes, make sure everything is solid, and try to put up some big numbers tomorrow.

The front aero is complete!!
Made with some quick release mounts from Proffesional Awesome, birch plywood, Aluminum sourced from B&D Hoist in Westminster, stainless hardware, and a little paint. Weighing in at less than 20 pounds, this set up is tough! It can easily hold my weight and can be removed in minutes. 4 days until the ECTA Maxton event!

I installed a new intake base this off-season. Why?
I consulted and due to some issues with the intake. The end result was a fresh intake base to replace the 1980's casting I purchased from eBay. The old casting wasn't faulty. The problem was two fold:

1) I wanted a durable coating to keep the intake looking good, so I chose a ceramic coating. The process involves quite a bit of heat and (slightly) warped the base. I thought gasket compression would make up for it, but it did not.
2) the vendor coated the inside as well, shielding it from heat and making the ports and plenum very smooth. Both of these issues are not good for a wet-flow intake.

Of note, right out of the box, the Offy cross ram ports are almost as large as the medium race ports in a 1206/1266 gasket. Following the advice of Wayne Guinn Engineering, I did very little to the ports. I cleaned them up, and retained some material to serve as anti-reversion dams. That, combined with careful attention to port alignment and the uncoated interior helps to keep the intake sealed, keeps the fuel in suspension, helps the fuel vaporize, and cleans the charge.

At this point, I've only tested it a little, but I've already seen improvements; especially at the low end.

T-7 days to Maxton with ECTA. Today's project: The front aero.

The car is back together from the prior setbacks, so now I'm back to what I planned to do about a month ago. What you see here are all just "advanced" template parts that help me to visualize, enable fabrication, and design the mounting brackets and hardware. The splitter will be slightly larger than what is pictured here. With any luck, I'll be done today.
