Next Saturday July 11 is Calhoun Farm & Market , a treasured annual event that brings so many providers, creatives, small businesses, educators together. We are so grateful for Calhoun Farm & their community centered events!

We will learn about the skills needed to identify Plants and learn about them through relationship, share plant stories, answer questions, and enjoy being together in nature as a community !

👹 renewed MF domain name I have owned since 2016 and that triggered an alarm: Second time the same MNC coming after me through web host provider to shut down my website through bots and false claims; I’ve submitted all my trademark paperwork but it’s been a week, last time it was almost 3 weeks.

🫨Add censorship and shadow banning on meta and it’s almost as if they are trying to erase MF and the impacts of relationships, herbalism, community building off the internet 🤔
Not the first time I’ve had to fight for all that is sacred. But please remember, and experience, no one does anything alone …… the only way through is together.

Hello beloved community of folks sharing values, skills, and direct action through herbal traditions and this small but mighty herb farm, miss you, have a very important message

You may recall back in November, through the window of biggest online sales of the year for the holiday season; a time that typically culminates in enough material support to help carry through the lean times of winter when there are no in person, farmer's and producer markets . . . .
My website was taken off line: a huge MNC with international markets and more profits than I can imagine that reps a brand called 'meraki' filed complaints that I was using a word they own.

Search the word MERAKI; the love, creativity and passion one puts into their work, art and service, and you will find innumerable businesses using this beautiful Greek word.

I complied with all sorts of ridiculous asks, and did everything I could to ensure access - because that is paramount to any educational or healing service.

And I fought it, because the claim is wrong, ethically and factually.

Lovely clients stepped up to order directly through me, which was easy, fun, and beautiful!
Community members regardless of geography stepped up to raise the $500 needed to register MERAKI FARMACY !!! as a trademark, to protect us from this ever happening again, despite the obvious differences in process and 'product': Meraki Farmacy growing organically the ingredients to make small batch, original formulas, serving women and children and families; no big factories, wholesale accounts, international markets, investors, board members, stock options or record profits.

Just Lu and The Plants in service through Land to connect folks to the care that should be the non-negotiable standard.

I "won" of course: because their claim is untrue. There is no other Meraki Farmacy, as anyone who is supported by here knows! Thank you for carrying us through that storm!

You may recall just a few months ago: another major disruption to serving a community I travelled 5 hours round trip to, on the regular, over 3 years due to breaks in leases and agreements that were totally out of my control. I found some places to go, to start over again building trust and relationships, centering the needs of family and the needs to keep operational. There was SO much attention to the fallout, and so very little to the solutions I found.
At MF, we prioritize continuity. We are here Before, during, and After crisis. Because that is true care.

You have heard, seen and directly experienced over the last 7 months intentional censorship and repression of my online presence, with disastrous impacts to my Therapeutic Services, Herb Farm and Apothecary, how I work 40+ hours a week, and 25+ years of service. I have asked repeatedly for folks to get on the newsletter, to interact with the social media profiles, and to continue being an actual community - where teachers and healers and farmers are supported by the people who directly benefit from, want to see others' have access to these kinds of services, regardless of zip code.

Giving time, attention, clicks, shares, referrals, reviews matches the positive impacts of our office hours, farmer's markets, and mobile classroom = continuity through community!

I am sharing all of this with you now, because the same MNC has come to my website host, again, and has my online apothecary and highly educational website off line, again. I have submitted all required proof, again, and awaiting restoration, again. I found this out as I celebrated my birthday, 4 year anniversary here in the PA Wilds, facing barriers that no one can overcome alone.

We know that part of why you choose MF is because there are very few herb farms, because the continuity, transparency, trust, craftsmanship, quality, and special meraki speaks to your heart, soul, values, and practical sensibilities: We need Farms, especially herb ones. We need Teachers, Artists, and Care providers. Thank you! You also choose MF because there is something about me that you feel strongly about. Because like all crafts people and culture keepers and land centering herbalists - we are interesting, dedicated, and valuable to our communities.

I had plans for a big Solstice - Anniversary - Birthday sale celebration for the already highly accessible, exemplary continuity of care from Seed - Bottle - Family, which I hope to offer as soon as the web host bots and reps with no phone number to call, again, to reach the same conclusion:

This is Meraki Farmacy, and there is no other entity quite like this.

And the truth is, there won't be. How many hits can we take? The more points of connection, with you, across geography and 'market' the more stable we are.

There is a super special kind of feeling - after sowing *thousands* of seeds since March, for my farm and at Aletta’s - when you get the last of the transplants in, sow Corn & melons & squash, watching the skies and winds and listening for the changes in bird song, as you walk in the door feeling grateful - and really proud that you keep sowing, through all the collapses and changes, through no shows at markets and market collapse, through year after year of sharing your practice with The People, after funding cuts, underemployment, significant barriers including shadow banning on meta and only a few people giving time to amplify, you walk in the door, kick off your shoes and wash your hands and there it is:
The sound of rain on the metal roof of your wee house, with dogs on the couch and dinner almost ready.
The Rain. The Germination Rain.

You’ll find out later there were tornados, and I won’t mention the govt fiasco of continued cuts to public services that help keep people safe, and a friend from back east texts to make sure you’re ok …..
and you are. You’re ok. Still hoping all this hard work pays off through community consistently supporting all your labors, saying your name and making referrals, making sure you’re being taken care of while serving so many …. Regardless of geography ! You’re ok, right now.
