Wowee Zowee, Curwensville! You never disappoint this humble herb farmer but yesterday was particularly connective, celebratory, mutually empowering and inspiring !
We had so many incredible conversations, Heather won the pie contest! I met quite a few home herbalists, made new connections, heard great local musicians, ate good food and …..
we had 8 adults and 7 youths for embodied discovery class !!!
If you aren’t already on the newsletter and familiar with my work, GO RIGHT NOW to merakifarmacy.com to receive the always human written and designed newsletter.
I am a mobile classroom, consultation service and have even more to offer you - regardless of where you call home.
I have something more to say, because we are readers and thinkers centering connection, not quick fixes or perceived convenience 😁
Now, I see * a lot * of farmers and makers who primarily measure their success at farmers markets by selling out of their goods and that is the main message in their thank you posts.
Yes: providers of food, care and education must be materially supported by their communities. We all need to make money to pay our rent, for food, medical care, our vehicles that carry a mobile storefront, insurance, phone, computers, and the supplies we can’t make or grow ourselves.
And also
I’ve never gone home empty, as in sold out of what I’ve grown and made, by hand, over many weeks and even seasons (perennials take time), sharing my specialized practice of over ten years.
I go home with inventory.
And I go home with what I consider the greatest measure of success: your trust and our continued relationship:
seeing your children, parents, grandparents. With your stories about your worst days and hardest challenges, about how no one should have to choose between eating real food or putting gas in the car. I go home with your tears, laughter, worries, celebrations - new births, and being in remission. I go home with your experiences, and that is the experience I need to continue to be our county’s only community herbalist: meeting the needs of the folks right here where we are.
It is truly and honor and a privilege to witness you, to serve you, and to be respected and supported in return.
This is what we’ve always done here, and i am immensely grateful for the opportunity to share my best skills and wisdoms with you. This farm and school has no financial backing for all the labors and skills required to protect, advocate for, and serve families. We are truly interdependent, and therefore healing far more than our bodies.
It is always relational. What we do together changes lives and restores disconnection. This is sacred work!
Thank you for consistently supporting your herb farm by raising awareness, making referrals, sharing posts, being on the newsletter, choosing shipping if you can’t get to a market, leaving reviews, buying gift cards, booking my other services.
It’s always people taking care of people.
I’ll be at Brockway’s first Sunday farmers market today from 3-6 if folks want to come meet me and the plants 💚
