Penn Highlands Healthcare Director Volunteers in the Community

People should feel safe when Rebekah Voris, BS, a social worker at Penn Highlands DuBois, is in the room. She earned a masters rank of fourth-degree black belt in Goshin Jutsu Karate in September 2025 and volunteers to share her martial arts knowledge with women and children at the Clearfield YMCA in Clearfield, PA. https://www.phhealthcare.org/news/penn-highlands-dubois-news/penn-highlands-healthcare-director-volunteers-in-the-community

On Nov 8th, the Clearfield YMCA and the Goshin Jutsu Martial Arts Class hosted a clinic on Kenjutsu (Japanese Sword Fighting), given by Grandmaster Robert Bohac.

Participants practiced sword drills, cutting techniques and two and three man fighting techniques. The clinic ended with participants practicing their cutting skills in a fun round of cutting pumpkins.

Participants came from New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Georgia to take part in this annual event.

Finally, on a serious note, Dr. Jensen Maines tested for and achieved her Shodan (1st degree black belt).

Effective 9/2, Tuesday classes will take place in the big gym at the Clearfield YMCA, with Kids from 5:30-6:30 and Adults from 7:00-8:30. Thursday Adult classes will maintain their regular schedule, from 7:00-8:30 in the 2nd floor Aerobics Room.

Our Fall/Winter Schedule. Kids & Women's classes are now Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 and Adult Classes are Thursday 7:00 to 8:30 and Saturdays 10:00 to 12:00.
