Clearwater Bombers                                                                                 The Evolution of The Clearwater Bombers’ Legacy Project

Our Clearwater Bombers Legacy Education Project, Inc. (CBLEP) board has had a busy two months, wrapping it up with volunteer projects at the Eddie C. Moore Complex – which we OFFICIALLY ADOPTED through the City of Clearwater Adopt-A-Park program! 💪😊💙

We kicked things off by clearing debris, pulling weeds, and refreshing planters to help Parks & Rec prepare for back-to-back NCAA tournaments – the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and the ESPN/Shriners tournaments.

Our second project was volunteering last weekend at the ESPN/Shriners NCAA tournament, and we loved every minute of it, including having a 4th generation Bomber family member there to volunteer – Doug Mason’s great-granddaughter! It was an honor to be a part of such an amazing tournament! 🙌🥎

There is no better park for CBLEP to adopt than the Eddie C. Moore Complex. Eddie C. Moore became the Bombers’ manager in 1946 and cemented the city’s direct involvement in the team’s operations and sponsorship. An outstanding player/manager, he led the Bombers to four national titles and four runner-up finishes (1946–1957), served as Florida ASA commissioner, was president of the Amateur Softball Association (1972–73), and was Clearwater's Parks and Recreation Director for over 20 years (1956–1978) We honor his legacy! 💙

The complex also honors beloved Bombers legend Herb Dudley (Herb Dudley Training Facility), who pitched across seven decades (1939–1981). Among his many outstanding accomplishments he is known for, one is setting an ASA record at the 1949 Nationals with 55 strikeouts in a 21-inning game and finishing that tournament with a record 130 strikeouts!🔥

CBLEP proudly celebrates our Bombers legacy as well as the City of Clearwater’s impact on fast-pitch – from the powerhouse men’s era to today’s explosive women’s game. As we educate the community and provide scholarships to the Lady Bombers, we’re working toward a dream: a Clearwater Fast-Pitch Heritage Museum at Eddie C. Moore Complex to honor our past, celebrate today’s stars, and inspire the future. 🏆✨
