There have been several coyote sightings in our neighborhood recently. Should you see coyotes roaming around please follow the instructions in the information below:

For non-threatening coyote sightings in Clearwater, document the encounter online using the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) interactive map. If you are experiencing conflicts with a coyote that has lost its fear of humans, contact the FWC Southwest Regional Office directly at (863) 648-3200.

Here is the breakdown of who to contact and when, depending on the situation:

Non-Emergency Sightings: To report an encounter where the coyote is simply passing through or exhibiting normal, fearful behavior, use the FWC's Wildlife Incident Management System to log the location.

Unusual or Aggressive Behavior: If a coyote approaches people, chases joggers/bikers, or attacks leashed pets, report the incident immediately during business hours to the FWC Southwest Regional Office at (863) 648-3200.

Emergencies & Imminent Threats: If a coyote will not leave when scared away and poses an imminent threat to human health or safety, call 911.

City & County Resources: Review the City of Clearwater Wildlife Issues page for municipal advice, or contact Pinellas County Animal Services at (727) 582-2600 for domestic animal concerns or to report animal safety violations (e.g., neighbors leaving pet food out that attracts coyotes).

• To discourage the coyote from staying or returning: Make loud noises, clap, shout, or spray the coyote with a garden hose to teach it that your yard is an unsafe place.

• Remove attractants: Bring pet food inside, secure your trash cans, and pick up any fallen fruit from trees.

• Protect small pets: Always supervise small dogs and cats while they are outdoors.

The 3 Block parties that were held on Saturday, March 28th in Tracts C, F and G were very successful and enjoyed by attendees of all ages. Tract C had 50 people, Tract F had 40 and Tract G had 25.

We had policemen and fireman stop by. Councilman Ryan Cotton came. Representatives from the Long Center gave information regarding available activities. Two tracts had bounce houses which were greatly enjoyed by the children. Face painting and creating sidewalk chalk drawings were also enjoyed by the neighborhood children. A Food truck provided gourmet popsicles.

It was a very successful Northwood Estates neighborhood gathering!!
