SCUBA Tips from The SCUBA Gym:

Is YOUR certified child ready for a underwater camera? How to keep diving fun with a camera. 📸 🤿❤️

Even though kids can become certified divers at the age of 10, that does not always mean they are ready for underwater photography. How do we prepare them?

First step - your child should remain focused on their diving, buoyancy, and gauges. Once they have their basic skills down, allow your child to use a dive light. Have your child use the light to point out cool things underwater that they want to show us. Let your child use the dive light, carry the dive light, stow it, and allow the dive light to become a normal piece of their SCUBA equipment.

Go back to the first step and ensure your child is still remaining focused on their diving with control over their buoyancy and checking their gauges. Introduce your child to their phone, which they are already quite familiar with. There are many waterproof cases for the phones. WE have a great case that the phone is placed into - at SCUBA Quest Orlando. The phone is placed in the case and there is a vacuum pump to pretest the seals and make sure it is tight before heading underwater.

When moving to a camera for the little ones, be aware of heavy housings, lenses, complicated arms, lights, flashes, etc. Introduce underwater photography with simple, compact models that won't distract the child from focusing on the subject. A camera that can grow from a simple point and shoot into a manual mode with more options would be a great way for the camera to grow with the child. Everyone Deserves access to SCUBA Therapy - a unique and incredible Therapy that is effective and fun!

How can YOU help? Please share this post so others will become aware of therapies that they might not have known about. Participants do not need to be SCUBA Certified.

But what is SCUBA Therapy?? IT is:

1. Physical Therapy, Working on disabilities and weaknesses. Underwater without gravity, we are able to weight the body differently than on land and the fear of falling. We work weak areas and conduct exercises that work a lot faster underwater than up here.

2. Cognitive Therapy, Our Divers who have Autism, Down Syndrome, or other neurological disorders gain more self confidence, get exercise and build muscle, sleep better, focus better, have fewer anxieties - all with a residual effect.

3. Anti-Depressant for Divers with PTSD, Frustration, Depressant from Medication or Systems of Illnesses

Each Therapy is a little different but also often overlays each other as well.

Diving is wonderful therapy. The SCUBA Gym has been offering SCUBA Therapy for 15 years and continues to do so!
