Sommer Sports multisport events use both active and passive chip technology for timing. The active chip is affixed to an ankle bracelet and athletes claim it on race morning in front of the stage in the Highlander Pavilion. You must return this chip at the event or you will be subject to a $65 chip replacement fee. The disposable passive timing chip is on the back of your race bib. You must wear this bib during the run and when you cross the finish line. Failure to wear both chips during an event may result in missed splits and no finish time.

The Wekiwa Springs Ultra is entering a brand-new chapter with a new name, a new home, and a whole new adventure.

Introducing the FLORIDA OUTLAW ULTRA at Carney Island Recreation & Conservation Area on Lake Weir!

This spectacular new venue features more than 750 acres of Old Florida scenery, including sandhills, wooded trails, wetlands, shoreline, and beautiful lake views.

And the “Outlaw” name comes with some real Florida history. In 1935, notorious fugitives Ma Barker and her son Fred Barker met their fate near Lake Weir after a gun battle with federal agents. Their historic lakeside home has since been preserved and relocated to Carney Island.

Now it becomes part of the story behind our newest endurance adventure.
