No one talks about how hard it is to live in a body you were taught to despise.

“Dirty.”
“Impure.”
“Sinful.”

Ugh. Doesn’t that feel heavy?

You struggle to connect with your body.
You feel ashamed to look at it, feel it, or appreciate it.
You feel ashamed of your own sexuality.

You were taught that your own home was a temple of dirt and impurity.

But then you’re told about God’s love.
That God heals, cleanses, and restores.

Yet, at the same time, you receive messages that teach you to look down on your body and feel as though something about your very essence is wrong.

There’s a contradiction here that we need to question.

If we were created in God’s image and likeness, why did we learn to feel ashamed of our own bodies?

This is part of the emotional baggage we carry. And then we wonder why it’s so hard to love ourselves.

So I decided to unlearn this.

Imagine being able to look at your body without feeling that something is wrong with it. Learning to inhabit it as your home, treat it with respect, and explore your sexuality without automatically carrying the shame you were taught.

The difference is enormous.

You cannot reject something and honor it at the same time. Especially when that something is your own home.

What I’ve learned through exploring sacred sexuality is that we can build a different relationship with our bodies: learning to listen to them, understand them, and honor them without living in self-contempt.

And the relief that comes from no longer treating yourself as though something is wrong with you can be profound.

You will never feel completely safe in an environment that teaches you to despise yourself.

Working with the body and sexuality has been one of the most powerful paths of transformation in my own experience.

You learned it in an environment. You can begin building a different relationship with yourself

And it’s part of the work I bring into my 1:1 sessions: exploring the beliefs, shame, and patterns that shape how you relate to yourself.

Where did you learn to see your body this way?

If you’re ready to start exploring that relationship, send me a DM with the word RECONNECT.

If I'm healing, why aren't my circumstances changing?

Almost nobody tells you what to expect when you actually heal. I didn't know either.

Healing doesn't change your circumstances. It changes you and then you change your circumstances. That order can't be reversed.

And there's a difference between relief and healing that nobody explains.

Crying, yelling, talking it out: that gives you relief. It feels good and it helps. But the relief wears off and your body's response stays exactly the same. The next day the same person speaks to you the same way, and you go quiet again.

Without working with the nervous system, it's like bailing water out of a boat with a hole in it. You can bail all night. The water keeps coming back in, because the hole is still there.

Real healing is something else. And it asks for skills almost nobody has when they start:

Feeling the full range of your emotions. All of them. Not just the ones you were allowed to feel.

Reaching the moment the wound was made — not to understand it, to touch it. You already understood it. It wasn't enough.

And being able to stay there without running.

Without safety there is no deep change. The nervous system stays in survival. And nothing new gets learned in survival.

That's why you get anxious when you speak.
That's why you freeze in front of the person who walks all over you.
That's why you don't take the action you know you should take.

It's not a character flaw. It's a body living in fear.

That's why intellectualizing trauma isn't healing trauma. And spiritualizing it doesn't do it either.

When the nervous system starts to change, your responses change. Not your past: your responses.

The words come out. You can stand up for yourself. You move even when the fear is there.

Because there's a fear that's normal, and there's a fear that's destructive: the one that keeps you still. That one is dangerous. And that one can be worked with.

How many years have you been healing and waiting for the outside to change?

There is a question many successful women avoid asking themselves:

Am I proud of the woman I have become?

And read this carefully.

I’m not asking how much you have achieved.
I’m not asking how many degrees you have.
I’m not asking how much money you have made or how many people admire your work.

I’m asking if, when you are alone with yourself, you can look in the mirror and say:

“I am proud of the woman I have become.”

Because there are brilliant, admired, successful women… who are completely exhausted inside.

They don’t lack achievements.

They lack alignment.

They live divided between the life they show the world and the life they are actually living.

You can have a successful business…
and still allow someone to humiliate you in your own home.

You can have five degrees…
and still feel your voice disappear when you need to say “no.”

You can have recognition…
and still not recognize yourself in the life you are living.

That gap hurts.

And it drains you.

Because your nervous system does not respond only to the image you project.

It responds to the reality you are experiencing.

Do you know what can be more exhausting than any workday?

Promising yourself over and over:

“This time I’m going to speak up.”
“This time I’m going to set a boundary.”
“This time I’m going to choose myself.”

And finding yourself months later in the same place.

Not because you are weak.

Often because you are still developing the internal capacity to hold a decision you already know you need to make.

Because knowing what you need to do does not always mean you feel capable of sustaining it.

That capacity cannot be bought.
It does not come with more success.
It does not appear because you receive more recognition.

It is built.

With every boundary you uphold.
With every truth you stop silencing.
With every time you choose not to abandon yourself just to avoid losing someone.

Because there comes a moment when the cost of continuing to betray yourself becomes more painful than the fear of changing.

True security does not come from proving who you are.

It comes from living in a way that is aligned with who you know you are.

From being able to exist without shrinking yourself.
From speaking without asking for permission.
From choosing yourself without guilt.

Because peace does not come from any external achievement.

Peace comes when the woman you present to the world finally matches the woman you are within.

Why did I allow them to abuse me?

I can’t set boundaries.
I can’t leave that painful relationship.
I always end up with people who hurt me.

Does this sound familiar?

You’re not alone.
It’s not that you like pain.

Maybe it was programmed into your nervous system.

Living through painful experiences in childhood leaves internal imprints that carry serious consequences into adulthood.

For years we’ve asked:
Why do we tolerate the intolerable?
Today, we have the answer.

Our nervous system in trauma is the key.

Your nervous system controls all your behaviors and reactions.
Experiencing trauma programs your system to repeat, in adulthood, the same patterns it experienced in early life.

If your system learned pain and survival…
Guess what? As an adult, it will seek the same:

Pain and survival.

Every time you find yourself in painful patterns, it’s not random. It’s something deeper.
It’s familiar. It’s what your system recognizes as “normal.”
This is a trauma response.

It’s not that you like pain or being mistreated.
It’s that if pain was imprinted in your nervous system, it became a norm—
A program your body unconsciously repeats.

The more it repeats, the deeper it gets ingrained, and the more your body seeks it.
This is Polyvagal Theory.

That’s how trauma works:
Repeat, repeat, repeat the program.

Setting boundaries feels dangerous.
You’re afraid of being alone, being abandoned, or rejected.

Abuse has become so familiar, that being treated well doesn’t feel “good”—
It feels like too much.

In fact, positive and safe experiences may trigger your alarm system.

I work with women—like myself—who had to break the addiction to normalizing pain, to tolerating the intolerable, to not being able to protect ourselves.

Healing the nervous system is the key to real change.
It means clearing the pain-based program and creating a new one—
One that’s rooted in love, peace, and self-respect.

You don’t have to know everything or do it all alone.
You can give yourself permission to ask for help today

After my participation as a speaker at Beautiful After 40, I realized something profound:

Healing didn’t just change my life…
It was the best investment I ever made for myself.

At 40, many of us believe it’s too late.
But what actually arrives late is the awareness that we’ve spent decades carrying wounds we mistook for bad luck.

I lived it.
42 years of missed opportunities, broken relationships, financial chaos, self-sabotage…
Years telling myself “this is just my fate,” “I have such bad luck,” without realizing it was trauma speaking through me.

Today, at 48, I look back and feel the pain of having lived from a wounded place.
Because time can’t be recovered.
No amount of money will give me back those 42 years trapped in trauma, repeating painful patterns simply because they felt familiar.

There are no refunds for suffering.
But healing? Healing gave me a return.
A return in the form of resilience, clarity, emotional autonomy, and a new way of living.

Money is just a tool. It can be earned back.
Time can’t.

And if you’re reading this, afraid to invest in yourself…

Ask yourself these questions honestly:

— How many years of pain has it cost you to avoid seeking help?
— How far have you really gotten on your own?
— How much is your silence, your inaction, your fear truly costing you?

If you could put a price on all the pain you’ve been through…
Would that money bring back your joy, your lost tears, or the weight you still carry without knowing what to do?

I chose to stop losing time.
And today, I know my next 48 years will be different—
Not because I just hope so, but because I’m taking action.

Lost years hurt.
But what hurts more is feeling hopeless because nothing changes—simply because we don’t change.

Are you ready to stop postponing your healing?

Who’s in Charge of Your Life: Your Inner Child or the Adult You Are Today?

Many people live controlled by their inner child, that psychological part of them that didn’t fully develop because their emotional needs weren’t met during childhood. As a result, we become adult-children, reacting from unhealed wounds.

But how can you start recognizing who’s truly running your life?

The Internal Dialogue:

The Inner Child Says:

•”I can’t do this; I’m helpless.”
•”I need someone to calm me down; I’m scared and don’t know what to do.”
•”It’s not my fault; others are responsible for what happens to me.”
•”My parents (or someone else) should come rescue me.”

The Conscious Adult Responds:

•”I can face this; I have the ability to learn and move forward.”
•”I know how to regulate my emotions; I can calm myself and take care of my needs.”
•”I am responsible for my actions; no one else has control over me.”
•”I have the internal resources to rescue myself when I’m scared.”

The Actions:

The Inner Child:
•Throws tantrums, gets angry easily, and acts impulsively.
•Struggles to manage emotions, leading to a loss of control.
•Doesn’t consider consequences and reacts in the heat of the moment.

The Conscious Adult:
•Pauses, reflects, and responds with self-control.
•Handles emotions with maturity and avoids hurting others with reactive behavior.
•Thinks before acting and considers the consequences of decisions.

The Key Question:

Who is making the decisions in your life?
Recognizing the dialogue between your inner child and your adult self is the first step toward healing. Healing doesn’t mean silencing your inner child, but learning to care for them through your conscious adult.

Reflection:
1.What situations trigger your inner child the most?
2.How can you respond from your conscious adult next time?
3.What resources do you need to develop to be your own support system?

Remember: The journey toward well-being begins with self-awareness and the daily practice of nurturing yourself from your adult self.
