Crooked River Skate Park @ Rivergate
The City of Cleveland has begun construction on the Crooked River Skate Park located at Rivergate Park.
In addition to a bowl and other park features, the new skate park will include a public art component by Dru Mckeown of TOI studio. Dru presented a shade structure reminiscent of shipping containers seen along the riverfront and a nod to Flats industrial history.

Towpath Trail - Scranton Flats Section Opened!
The official opening of the Scranton Flats/Towpath Trail took place on Monday, July 7th. The $9-million public improvement project includes a new park and the first publicly funded section of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in the City of Cleveland. Today, the trail begins at the Lower Harvard Road Trailhead and travels north through Steelyard commons and Tremont connecting to Scranton Flats, with plans to extend to the future Canal Basin Park site. Cleveland Metroparks will open its beautiful new Merwin’s Wharf restaurant at Rivergate Park at the end of July , serving food and drink on the banks of the Cuyahoga. Featuring fire pit, outdoor fireplace, full bar and delicious food, Merwin’s Wharf is the perfect place for a summer meal in the Flats while taking in Cuyahoga river sights including giant ore freighters, tugs, rowing shells and kayaks.

CMSD-Rows (Cleveland's crew program for urban kids) meets Dick's Sporting Goods challenge grant
CMSD-Rows met a $34,000 challenge grant from Dick’s Sporting Goods! CMSD-Rows is a crew program for Cleveland’s urban kids that positions them for college rowing scholarships.

CMSD-Rows (Cleveland crew program for urban high school kids) Meets Challenge Grant
CMSD-Rows successfully met a $35,000 challenge grant from Dick’s Sporting Goods to fund its crew program for urban kids to position them for college scholarships.

Event Description:
The 2014 Gay Games rowing regatta, The Gay Games Rowing Regatta, will be hosted by the Cleveland Rowing Foundation on their famous rowing course on the Cuyahoga River in downtown Cleveland. The course will be a shorter version of the annual Head of the Cuyahoga race that the Cleveland Rowing Foundation hosts in September. The race will be approximately 1,500 meter sprint race, consisting of two challenging turns under two bridges. The course runs through downtown Cleveland, from industrial to parkland to downtown Cleveland. The finish line will be located on the CRF Property so that spectators will be able to view the finish.

Learn to Row - 1 day sessions
Learn to Row is a one day comprehensive instructional session which introduces new rowers to the sport of rowing on the Cuyahoga River.
Western Reserve Rowing Association (WRRA) instructors will teach the basics of the sport of rowing, including a boathouse orientation, special safety considerations on the Cuyahoga, rowing terminology, and boat handling. Participants will receive instruction on basic rowing technique using a stationary rowing machine (erg), as well as a two-part on-the-water practice, rowing as a crew of eight.
2014 Program Dates
Spring: April 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 26, 27
Summer: June 14 and 15
Fall: August 16 and 17
