Maya H. is a Dean’s List finalist at the 2025 Buckeye Regional! Maya is an extremely dedicated member of 2399. She has been on the team since her sophomore year and is on the programming subteam. Maya is always the first to show up at build season meetings, and always the last to leave. She has gone to a total of 308 hours of robotics just this season! Our mentors frequently had to schedule days when Maya was not allowed to come to robotics, to ensure she was taking enough breaks. Along with her technical involvement, Maya went to numerous outreach events including judging at not one, but TWO FLL tournaments, and was the event coordinator for Score with STEM, an outreach event at the Cavs arena. She was chosen to be the programming lead this year and her main focus was on our vision system. She made sure everyone on the programming subteam was comfortable to ask for help, had tasks to work on, and helped her peers avoid burnout (as we all know is so hard to do). Maya is such an incredible programmer as well as a person. She truly knows what it means to be a FIRST student and we are so proud that her dedication for 2399 and FIRST in general, are rewarded with being a Dean’s list finalist. Maya will be going to the FRC World Championship in Houston to present herself with the opportunity to win a spot on Dean’s List. We are so proud of you Maya!! Keep up the great work!

Wow. Crazy to say that this is the end of our official competition season with the Reefscape game. We have had an insane season, from gaining 15 new freshmen in the fall to traveling 14 hours to go to ARKANSAS, to placing the highest in alliance selection that we have since our team restarted four years ago. We had an amazing time at Buckeye, ranking 11th after qualifying rounds and being the first pick of the 5th alliance. We LOVED our partners and - thank you guys for such an amazing alliance and for our fourth-place finish in the bracket! We were awarded the judges’ award for our work reaching both the local Hathaway Brown community, as well as the greater Cleveland community, our team structure and efforts to grow our team, as well as our technical achievements and engineering process. We are very honored to have this award as our seniors specifically think it is an amazing reflection of the hard work they have done to rebuild 2399 - going from 7 full-time members to 45 in just four years.
We want to say a huge thank you to all of our sponsors for supporting us on this journey both with meals, parts, and the spirit you give our team. As well as a huge thank you to our mentors. Without Hanna, Kevin, Will, Becca, Herb, John, and Maddie, this team would be nowhere. We appreciate your constant support and urge for us to always do better, along with your ability to have fun and understanding that we are busy teenagers. Another thank you as well to all of our families, friends, and fans for cheering on our team this season. Your energy is truly inspiring and you are the reason we are so empowered to do robotics.
So what’s next for 2399? We are ranked 6th in Ohio so we are planning to attend the Ohio State Championship in May. We also have 13 seniors we will be spotlighting leading up to the event! We plan to attend various off-season events as well, so keep an eye out for us!
