NOW HIRING COXSWAINS

Western Reserve Rowing Association (WRRA) is seeking motivated and reliable coxswains for the upcoming rowing season. Join our team and play a key role in keeping crews safe, focused, and successful on the water.

POSITION: COXSWAIN

Coxswains are responsible for steering rowing shells, communicating with athletes and coaches, and ensuring safe practices during practices and races.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Safely steer and control rowing shells

Communicate clearly with rowers and coaches

Call commands and motivate crews

Follow all WRRA and boathouse safety policies

Assist with launching and docking as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Coxswain experience preferred (training available)

Strong communication and leadership skills

Reliable and punctual

Comfortable working in varying weather conditions

Ability to prioritize safety at all times

Mark your calendars! The 2025 Hammer Ergatta is happening on February 21, 2026, at CRF, starting at 10 a.m.

This year’s event will feature races for High School, Open, Masters, and Coxswains, along with the always-exciting Sledgehammer Relay, a crowd favorite!

We’d love to have you join us for this exciting, community-driven event. The best part? It’s FREE to attend! Donations, however, are greatly appreciated and go a long way in supporting the event.

All items will be delivered to WRRA Mary, Merchandise Director, and she will make a plan to get to those that ordered items.

At this time, if you need to get on the CRF docks, they can be accessed by the small sculling (south) ramp only. Our main / large ramp sustained significant damage and is not safe to use. However, we do not want to limit access any more than absolutely necessary.

If you happen to see Florin or crews down there with machinery working on the dock, please give them plenty of room to work.

Dock Update: 🔨🔩work is still underway to repair the damage from Sunday. Standby for updates for when we will be fully operational.
