We at Gilbert O’Neil VFW Post 2533 want to thank the members of our community, the Cleveland Fire Department, our Social members, and Veteran members who joined us to pay tribute on Memorial Day. This is a VERY important day to us at the VFW and we are proud to have great Americans join us in remembering…..Our theme remains the same year after year-We remember and honor those who gave EVERYTHING in the defense of our republic and liberty. We are blessed to have great people associated with our post, and with them our solemn ceremony was extra special and meaningful.

Memorial Day Reminds Us Freedom Isn’t Free The VFW calls on America to remember the true, somber meaning of Memorial Day, honoring the fallen heroes who forfeited their futures to defend our freedom.

Today our post conducted our Community Day of Service. In the past we’ve noticed that the graves of American Veterans that date back to the Spanish American War, were in need of some respect and care. So members of our post and community converged at the Alger Cemetery, near our post, to perform site beautification and place flags at the Veterans graves. We thank all of the volunteers at the cemetery and back at the post where lunch was served that assisted in today’s services.

🚨🚨Due to the inclement weather that is expected all day Saturday we’re shifting the Day of Service event to Sunday the 24th, the Memorial Day Ceremony will remain the same.🚨🚨
