🏋️ 4 REASONS STRENGTH TRAINING IS ABOUT SO MUCH MORE THAN BUILDING MUSCLE🏋️
When most people think about lifting weights, they think about building muscle, getting stronger or changing how their body looks.
But strength training does SO much more. 💪
🦴 1. STRONGER BONES
Your muscles aren’t the only thing getting stronger! Strength training places healthy stress on your bones, helping them adapt and become stronger. Maintaining bone strength becomes increasingly important as we age.
❤️ 2. HEART & METABOLIC HEALTH
Cardio isn’t the only exercise that benefits your heart. Strength training can support cardiovascular health, improve insulin sensitivity and help your body manage blood sugar. Building and maintaining muscle also supports a healthy metabolism.
💪 3. MUSCLE, WEIGHT LOSS & GLP-1s
If you’re losing weight, the goal shouldn’t be JUST a smaller number on the scale. Ideally, you want to lose excess body fat while preserving lean muscle.
If you’re using a GLP-1 medication and losing weight, remember that some of the weight lost may include lean muscle mass, not just body fat.
That’s why strength training, adequate protein and good overall nutrition are so important during weight loss.
Don’t just lose weight, protect your muscle. 💪
❤️ 4. HEALTHY AGING & INDEPENDENCE
Strength training helps maintain the strength you need for everyday life, getting off the floor, carrying groceries, climbing stairs, traveling and playing with your kids or grandkids.
We naturally tend to lose muscle as we age, making it even more important to maintain it.
So don’t just train for how you want to look today.
Train for your 50s.
Train for your 60s.
Train for your 70s and beyond.
Strength training isn’t just about looking stronger.
It’s about building a body strong enough to keep doing the things you love for years to come. ❤️💪
