The future is bright.
Research shows that one of the most common causes of depression and anxiety is lack of a belief in a compelling future.

This blew her mind

I had this conversation with a client recently and it totally changed her view of eating
⠀
She mentioned how she tends to look at meal prepping as restricting
⠀
Because she is “stuck” to those foods for that week
⠀
So I asked her what she used to eat before we started coaching
⠀
She listed off maybe 4 foods
⠀
She generally ate these same foods most days
⠀
They were all highly palatable & convenient options
⠀
I asked if she felt restricted by those
⠀
She said no
⠀
“Well you were unintentionally stuck to those foods for years, but you didn’t feel restricted”
⠀

⠀
The difference is that when you’re mindlessly eating, you FEEL like you can eat whatever you want
⠀
Eating a healthy balanced diet that leads to weight loss isn’t restricting
⠀
You’re making it feel restrictive because you’re telling yourself you CANT eat whatever you want

But the truth is, you never really just ate whatever you wanted

You ate based on habits, convenience, social obligation

Freedom creates more discipline
⠀
I thought of this today when I was talking to a client about their diet
⠀
As someone who works for themself a perceived benefit is:
⠀
“You get to make your own schedule”
⠀
While that technically is true, the implication is that I have the option to work or not
⠀
Which also is true, so I have to CHOOSE to work each day
⠀
The perception of choice is actually much more powerful than choice itself
⠀
If a boss or company asked me to do the things I currently do, I could probably have a case for lawsuit lol
⠀
Having the freedom to make my own schedule usually leads to more work than if I had a normal job
⠀
I have to build discipline to get up early
⠀
To go book my own consults
⠀
To take late calls
⠀
To work on weekends
⠀
To work on holidays
⠀
To show up on camera
⠀
To record podcasts
⠀
To do the boring stuff like bookkeeping or taxes
⠀
No one is telling me I have to do these
⠀
No one is setting my schedule or rules
⠀
But that freedom creates more discipline because I’ve had to build in the automatic choice to “do” even when I don’t want to
⠀
This applies to your nutrition
⠀
When you have stringent rules on a restrictive diet
⠀
It creates an illusion of structure
⠀
But that is often what leads to burnout and resentment
⠀
It’s what leads to lack of discipline and the tendency to fall off
⠀
With flexible dieting, having the freedom to eat whatever you want, over time creates MORE discipline
⠀
You build knowledge, accountability, and skills to create a system that works for you
⠀
The freedom to eat whatever you want actually creates less urge to binge
⠀
The less “bossy” your diet is, the more you build self accountability and autonomy
⠀
To simplify it:
⠀
If I tell you, “you can’t eat pizza”
⠀
After 2 weeks you’ll be like
“F**k this I’m gonna have pizza” and over indulge
⠀
If I tell you “eat pizza whenever you want, just fit it in your calories”
⠀
You’re more likely to go question when you actually want pizza
⠀
You’re more likely to moderate it
⠀
Final point:
⠀
Having freedom doesn’t mean lack of responsibility
⠀
It can actually create more responsible behavior
⠀

Eating LESS is fu**in up your fat loss
⠀
Most people think they need to suppress their appetite
⠀
While also endlessly searching for new ways to eat “less”
⠀
Here’s the issue:
⠀
Majority of overweight women I’ve worked with have SMALL APPETITES
⠀
Rarely do I meet a client who has an overwhelming appetite
⠀
They tend to eat out of:
⠀
Stress
Boredom
Social obligation
⠀
These behaviors lend themselves to eating CALORIE DENSE foods
⠀
These are foods that have HIGH calories for very small servings
⠀
Chips
French fries
Desserts
Highly processed foods
⠀
The problem isn’t appetite
⠀
The problem is you’re choosing foods out of convenience or comfort
⠀
And you’re not in tune with your hunger hormones
⠀
By switching your approach and eating:
⠀
MORE nutrient dense foods
MORE frequent meals
MORE protein
⠀
You are putting yourself in a more full and mindful state
⠀
This leads to less emotional eating & easier time saying “no” to things
⠀
Another bonus is that you will also see how easy it is to fit in the “fun” foods in moderation when you’re well fed

I spent a LOT of years doing s**t the WRONG WAY. Had I known these few things I could have saved myself a lot of time, frustration and even jealously.
𝗜𝗳 𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝟳 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼 𝗜 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
1️⃣You can actually get lean without much cardio.
This isn’t a game of eating less and working out more. Our bodies are smart and adaptive.

2️⃣ Cutting out carbs isn’t the answer unless you’re the less than 1% of the population who has a medical reason to do so.
⠀
3️⃣Rest days are 100% necessary.
Young me thought was going to get me there faster
When really all that does is cause stress on the body.
A stressed system loves to store fat.
⠀
4️⃣ Calories are king. Supplements, fad diets, meal timing, fasting, will not matter for fat loss.
⠀
5️⃣Hiring a professional is WORTH EVERY PENNY. My mindset allowed me to think I could “do it myself.”
⠀
We hire professionals for our cars, home repairs, lawns, haircuts, etc
but for some reason we think we can handle our fitness without help!

We have a couple of months left until the new year.

Your mom lied to you
Obesity and high blood pressure don’t run in the family
Poor lifestyle choices run in your family
Your doctor didn’t educate you
Those cholesterol and blood pressure meds don’t fix anything
You DONT need weight loss shots because you have “insulin resistance”
You’re pre-diabetic because of your daily habits
You have so much control over your quality of life it’s crazy
You need to get out of the “patient” mentality
This antiquated idea that you’re perpetually sick and that meds are the answer
You shouldn’t have a stocked medicine cabinet of prescriptions at 40 yrs old
You shouldn’t be waking up lethargic and unmotivated
You shouldn’t have a low libido
Humans can adapt to crazy things
You’ve chosen to adapt to the idea that you’re sick
That your knees are “bad” at 37
That you need Tums and Advil to make it through the day
That your doctor can make you question your self worth
You’re not sick
You’re not a patient
You haven’t made the choices that are in line with the life you want
The responsibility and severity of your decisions is mind boggling
And you’re not motivated to take back that control?
You’ll let some fu**in lunges stand in the way of you being the person you want?
To have the body you want
To have the s*x life you want
To break the family cycles you want to break
You’re willing to sacrifice all of that because you might have to track some calories?
If you truly grasp the changes that are at the tips of your fingers
You’ll never feel unmotivated again

and don’t start tomorrow the way you started today

Here is a secret about me
I can be super frugal
Some may refer to it as cheap *cough* my wife *cough*
The truth is that I am actually not cheap
I just won’t spend money on things I don’t see value in
I see value in:
Health
Experiences
Travel
Good quality food
Knowledge
If it doesn’t hit those categories I don’t bend over backwards to fit it into my budget
Neither me or my wife have brand new cars
We also don’t have car payments on our cars
And when I did have a car payments I refused to pay a lot (which is why I have an $18,000 car)
Could we afford better cars?
Absolutely
But that doesn’t fit in our value hierarchy
You may be nodding your head right now or rolling your eyes BUT what do YOU value?
What does your budget say about you?
You’ll take on a $600/month car payment, but do you feel confident when you step out of it?
For some reason when you go through your budget, your “health” budget is nonexistent
You’ll allocate $10/month to a gym membership you never use, thats about it huh?
And no, your health insurance is not part of your health budget.
Your health budget is what you allocate to make sure you are on track to live a longer, happier, healthier life
Not your obligatory dental cleaning or your unnecessary blood pressure meds you could be off of if you got your habits in order
What does your budget say about how much you value your body/mind/health?
If the first items on your budget chopping block are gym memberships, your trainer/coach, or your food quality
You need to reassess your values
Because you will sit on a call with a coach and say
“I can’t put a price on my health, these goals are invaluable to me”
Yet you’ll wince at paying more than $75 toward a longer, happier, healthier you?
Check in with yourself and ask:
“What does my budget say about how much I value my life/health?”

You’re lacking is self worth

You “stick it out” at jobs that make you miserable

You “try to make it work” in toxic relationships (platonic or s*xual)

But you find every excuse to quit on yourself

You don’t believe in yourself

You don’t believe you’re worthy of a happier, healthier, longer life

That’s why you’ll “throw in the towel” when weight loss gets hard

But you won’t stick up for yourself at work

That’s why you self sabotage your diet

But you’ll come up with reasons to “keep trying” with friends/partners who don’t treat you right

You can calculate the calories
⠀
You can find all of the workouts
⠀
You can Google “healthy” foods

But it won’t stick until you have the support and coaching to fully
