Academy of Koeikan Karate-Do. East Coast Honbu Koei-Kan Karate-Do, created in Japan by Eizo Onishi in 1952. Clifton dojo established 1965. Clifton Dojo, est.1965, remains the oldest operating school in NJ.

Koei-Kan, the hall of prosperity and happiness, cultivates character through training, discipline and perseverance to achieve a happy, healthy, and rewarding life. Onishi Eizo created Koei-Kan in 1952 after learning Shuri-te fromToyama Kanken and Naha-te from Kyoda Juhatsu's son. Koei-Kan has spread across the world with schools—dojo—in Japan, USA, Venezuela, Spain, Italy and Greece. Koei-Kan's mission is to create a harmonious and humane society by using traditional karate as a vehicle to develop strong character, social consideration, critical thinking, adaptability, physical health and mental grit. Koei Kan Karate is a well rounded martial art that includes traditional and modern aspects for training, combat and self-defense.
