Clinton boys soccer, real record, season-to-season:

MaxPreps has us 5-2-2. That’s wrong. The two 0-0s were a preseason jamboree, one half each. They don’t count.

True record: 5-3.
Official book: 32 goals for, 15 against

Last year we finished 14-9, 2.6 goals a game, 3-seed in Class 2 District 6. Beat Boonville 4-0 in the quarterfinal. Lost 4-2 to Helias in the semis. Missouri #118, Class 2 #24.

This year after 8 real games we are 5-3, scoring 4.0 a night — more than the 2020 16-3 team (3.1). Missouri #64, Class 2 #15. Same win rate as last year’s finished product, a goal and a half more per game, after graduating that senior class.

Same opponents: K**b Noster 8-0 again. Boonville 7-1 instead of 4-0. Osage 4-3 in overtime last night. St. Paul Lutheran still has our number (1-2).

Four-year climb: 5-16, 6-16, 9-15, 14-9, now 5-3 and scoring like we’ve never scored.

Harrisonville at HOME on Thursday. That’s the next measuring stick.

WALK OFF WINNER

Cardinals win a wild one scoring a sudden death goal with three minutes left in the second overtime. They improve to 5-3.
JV takes care of business in their one half winning 2-0. They are now 3-2 on the year.

Golden Boot Update

CARDINALS. DISTRICT. GOLDEN GOAL.
Clinton 4, District Foe 3.
Ethan Newman walks it off.
We ran the show for most of the night. Tried a new look, gave up two cheap ones we will never gift again, then locked in and took the game back. That is this group. Bend. Don’t break. Finish.
Arrow Kenny — HATTIE. The young gun was everywhere.
Cooper Goth — midfield conductor. Three assists. Linked every wave with Kenny like they had a private radio.
Brody Maurer — defensive demon. All night. No rest. No mercy.
Jaxon Parrett — saved a 1v1, then tracked 40 yards and delivered a slide tackle that saved the breakaway. Goal-saving play. Period.
Dylan Lutjen — huge saves, then those restarts. Calm in the hands. Lasers out of the box. Right to our guys.
New formation. Ugly goals against. Still our night. Still our district.
Great team win. Keep the standard. Keep the hunger.

GAMEDAY

Cardinals head on the road to take on district opponent Osage Indians.
JV will kick off at 5pm and play one half. Varsity to follow.

Game 2. Final match of the Clinton Cup. Tonight.

St. Paul Lutheran (Concordia) a private school that has had Clinton’s number for years. Series record: 5–22. That’s the history.

Can the Cardinals flip it tonight?

This group is 4–2. They have 28 goals in 6 games. Last season it took 12 games to score that many.

Last Cup they beat Concordia 4–0. Concordia got them back later. This is the last game of this tournament. One night. Home crowd. A team that is scoring twice as fast as a year ago.

If you’ve been waiting to see whether this start is real, this is the night.

Come out. Make it loud. One more for the Cup.

GAMEDAY

Varsity will play their second game of the Clinton Cup as they take on the St. Paul Saints. Kick off will be at 6:30.

Clinton Cardinals are 4-2.

28 goals in just 6 games.

It took 12 games last season to get to that number.

That’s not luck. That’s work.

Proud of these boys. On to the next one.

Winner Winner!

Both JV and Varsity stay hot offensively and come out with two wins tonight. Varsity improves to 4-2. JV gets its first shutout and improves to 2-2.

CLINTON CUP STARTS TONIGHT. 7pm Varsity

This is who your kids have become.
Throw-in. One-touch. Defender lunges. He touches it into space and buries it.

That is not luck. That is the work. Different players scoring. Different players assisting. A new keeper stepping up. A whole group playing with joy and intelligence.

Parents, be proud. These boys are representing this town the right way.
