Welcome to C2C of Clinton, Tn.
First I would like to give you a little tour of our Page,.. At the bottom of our Cover photo, click on "Photo" tab then click on "Album" tab and you will see the different albums. One album is named "New Bike Choices" in this album you will see photo's and prices for bicycles (most you can buy from Walmart) that is the easiest to install a motor on. I will be adding to this album from time to time.
Another album is named "Accessories" it has odd accessories with prices to add/upgrade your bicycle.
Now back to the bottom of C2C's Cover photo, (while we are, I hope you will "Like & Share" our Page) Now if you would click on the "More" tab and in the drop down click on "Notes". Here you will find links to suppliers of motors and parts, and upgrade parts that you can buy from for your build. You will also find links for trouble shooting and repairs on your motorized bicycles (mb).
I am not trying to make any money on these motorized bicycles, I am trying to get enough people interested in a 100 mile radius of Anderson Co. to start scheduling a monthly or bi monthly group rides, with each ride taking place in a different county.
You can install these motors on most bicycles at a cost of $225.00 (stock) in parts and I am willing to help you do it for free or I will do all the labor for $100.00. I prefer the buyer to do their own installation so they can learn how everything works and become more comfortable to do their own future maintenance and/or upgrades.
Now I have been asked on how someone goes about buying one of these mb (motorized Bicycle),..
I prefer you to go buy the bike, (if your not using an existing bike), get with me and I'll help you choose what parts is needed to order, you order them on your puter, and ship it to your address. That way if they are any problems, (late shipping, lost, or damage parts) it will be on you to "crack the whip" and deal with it...
Also if you want me to do the installing, I ask that you open the shipped parts in front of me and we will go thru it together, that way we both know what we got to work with,..
But if you want to just pay me and "let it be all on me", we can do that too, we use Pay-Pal, Check or Cash,.. (Funds will be verified before ordering.)
As for who to order a motor kit from I have heard good and bad about suppliers, lets be real, these motors are made in China and some suppliers takes their motors (average price $175.00 + sh for stock) when they get it and tear them down and port them and/or balance the crank for a little higher price (average price $285.00+sh) to a high performance at a cost of $1,000.00+
But I like http://www.bikeberry.com/ for all my mb needs,.. Their 6 month warranty is hard to beat and they will treat you right. The only problem I have had is that they run out of stock from time to time and I've had to order elsewhere,..
When buying a kit there is a few "add-ons" I would consider to "add to cart" when purchasing,.. Such as the kit supplies a simple spark plug, but I like the 3 prong HP spark plug.
Also look at the pictures of the 48cc and the 66cc motors, they look the same, they are exactly the same size and same weight the only difference is the size of piston and the only way the law can tell them apart is to remove head and "mic" them out.
Also look at the kits fuel tank size and think about how far you plan on riding your bike, most kits are 1.5 liter tanks or (1/4 of a gallon) that will get you 20 to 25 miles between fill ups, so you might consider a 2.5 liter or a 3.5 liter tank (which holds almost a whole gallon of fuel) to get you to around 80 to 100 miles between fill ups.
Also look at the tooth count on rear sprocket in kit. A 38 tooth gives you faster speed on flat ground around 40+ mph (stock) but you loose pulling power for hills, A 44 tooth gives you 35 mph and will get you up most hills with a little peddling help for the biggest hills. The 54 tooth give you 25 to 30 mph but is called the "stump puller" and gives plenty of torque for the biggest hills.
They are several more options to consider such as a locking gas cap. (Great idea if you plan on leaving it locked up out of site for any length of time.)
I also like the "header" you can add to your exhaust to give you a better "low torque" for these hills around East Tennessee.
An adjustable center kickstand is almost a must considering your adding 24 pounds to your bike and the regular kick stand will let your bike dangerously tetter when standing.
If you like a quite ride, you might want to consider adding an engine silencing kit.
So as you can see they are a lot of options, maybe you might want to start out "stock" and upgrade later down the road or if you want the best coming out the gate, just contact me and I will be happy to help you sort it out, help you order and give you any help needed putting one together and maintaining it down the road.
