Washington Prodigy Women's Tackle Football The Washington DC Prodigy is a non-profit sports organization that offers women an opportunity to learn and play tackle football.

The Washington Prodigy was formed in the summer of 2012 by veteran women football players and coaches with the goal to provide a playing environment focused on high quality training, respect, and professionalism. The Prodigy is recruiting new players for the 2013 season. Those new to football are encouraged to attend a tryout as the Prodigy offer training for all skill levels. Prodigy had a ball at the Wharf for Women in Sports Day with the USTA—Pun absolutely intended. 😂 🎾🏈

Big thank you to the USTA for bringing us into the celebration and giving us the opportunity to introduce even more people to the power, athleticism, and excitement of women’s football.

Women belong EVERYWHERE sports are played. And Prodigy will keep showing up to make sure there’s always a place for us on the field. ❤️🏈

Today we said farewell to one of our founding coaches, Carlos Garnett. Coach Los was the best kind of teacher—patient but firm, serious about the game but masterful at using humor to diffuse tense moments, and had a smile that could light up a football field.

Thank you for being part of our family for your many years of leadership. To the Garnett family, we’re eternally grateful to you for sharing Los with us.

Twenty-two years ago, two Black women found a sport that would change their lives.

In 2012, they decided to build something of their own.

Washington Prodigy was founded on a simple belief: football should be a place where people of every background, identity, and experience feel seen, valued, challenged, and supported. Family has always come first, and excellence has never been optional.

Since then, we've had the privilege of watching hundreds of athletes become teammates, leaders, champions, and lifelong family.

On National Black Women in Sports Day, we're proud of what we've accomplished—but even more proud of what this community has become.

Here's to every Black woman who has broken barriers, opened doors, and built something bigger than herself. And here's to everyone who's helped us build alongside them.
