Phelps is a 2020 KWPN gelding. He stands at 169 cm (between 16.2-16.3) but looks to be in another growth spurt. I expect him to mature at 17. He has shown training level, and is schooling all first level, with some second and third level moves coming along nicely. But due to his immature mind (still has a baby brain) and body, we are taking it slow, working mostly on rhythm, relaxation, acceptance of the aids, and balance. The boys out of this dam are very late to mature. He is still green with pushing from the back and taking the contact forward. Despite this, he is very talented, with three super gaits. He definitely wants to work hard, and doesn’t want to hurt his rider. He can get overwhelmed with too many new things, but holds it together in new places. He is very naturally uphill and underneath himself, which makes collection easy for him. He is quite loose through his body and his back when not nervous. He has a lot of power, and sometimes can lose control of the legs, or gets propelled forward and wants to run to keep his balance. Despite this, he does have good brakes from the seat. He is very sensitive, and not a horse for an amateur. He is also not a young horse candidate at this time, due to his immaturity and occasional lack of focus. He will probably catch up, but it isn’t in the cards right now. He will excel with a pro that sets boundaries and wants to take their time with him. Someone with soft hands and a solid seat and legs. He travels well and has no vices. I like riding him, and he gives a very nice feeling under saddle, but he is just too big for me, and he hasn’t even started to fill out. (And if you have a weak right leg with sciatic pain running down that side, and a torn rotator cuff on the left, he’s not the guy for you…😂) Clean x-rays on file. He is located in Clovis, CA, and also makes regular trips to the East Bay. Please PM me for more details. Serious inquiries only please. #dressage #dressagehorseforsale #dressagehorse #dressagehorsesforsale #dressagehorseinthemaking #dressagehorsesofinstagram 08/07/2025
