Today The 1st Cavalry Division published a standards book called the “Yellow Book” to outline standards for both Troopers and Leaders regarding uniform wear, accountability, social media use, fitness and a variety of other topics covered in U.S. Army regulations, directives and policies. The “Yellow Book” also includes a newly approved Cell Phone policy designed to protect off-duty hours to enable Troopers to spend uninterrupted time with family and friends.
The 1st CAV is a standards-based organization and the purpose of the "Yellow Book” is to serve as a guide for Troopers and Leaders alike to hold each other accountable.
1CD is an organization that is prepared to win and fight anywhere in the world, discipline is the foundation of our Army and it is imperative in our everyday training, because discipline enables us to be ready to answer our nation’s call at a moment’s notice.
“Our Non-commissioned Officers are the “Backbone” of the Army and therefore are charged with ensuring that our Troopers uphold the highest of standards; the same standards that make the NCO Corps the most efficient and disciplined force in the Word,” said Command Sergeant Maj. Shade S. Munday, division command sergeant major, 1CD.
1st CAV leaders created the standards book to facilitate building trust among Troopers and leaders by instilling disciple and upholding Army standards outlined by Army Regulations. The division command team feels every Trooper, junior and senior leader is expected to fall within the standards. Non-commissioned officers across the formation are empowered to enforce those standards outlined in the “Yellow Book.”
"I truly believe this Standards Book will make our great units even better by educating Troopers of what is expected and more importantly, empowering our NCO Corps." said Maj. Gen. John B. Richardson IV, commanding general, 1CD. "We are the greatest Army in the history of the world because of our incredible NCO Corps, the Standard Bearers of our Army"
