Women’s Basketball Used to Look Very Different!
Back in the early days of women’s basketball, the court was split into three sections with six players total — two stuck in each zone. Players weren’t allowed to leave their area, which meant:
❌ No full-court sprints
❌ No fast breaks
❌ No crossing into another zone
These rules existed because people believed women “shouldn’t exert too much energy.”
But even with the restrictions, women pushed the game forward. The sport kept growing until the old rules faded away.
Today, women play the fast-paced, full-court, high-skill game we know and love — and the Lady Raiders are carrying that momentum forward every day. ❤️🖤

🏀 Did You Know?
The first women’s college basketball game was played in 1896 — Stanford vs. Berkeley — and it sold out with over 500 people in attendance.
And here’s the part most people don’t know…
✨ It was an all-female crowd.
Men weren’t allowed to attend because it was considered improper at the time for women to compete in front of men.
So hundreds of women packed the gym and made history together. ❤️🔥
Women’s basketball has been breaking barriers from the very beginning!!!
