If there is one name in the world of dressage that commands respect, it’s Jessica Ransehousen. 🐎 This is not just a story about winning; it’s a story about longevity, dedication, and an undying love for the horse. Jessica Newberry Ransehousen is a true American legend, and her journey is proof that in equestrian sports, you never have to stop chasing greatness. 🌟

🌎 A Career Spanning Decades

Jessica isn't just a rider; she is a record-holder. Did you know she competed in three Olympic Games across 28 years? 🤯 She first represented the U.S. in Rome in 1960, again in Tokyo in 1964, and made a triumphant return 24 years later at the Seoul Olympics in 1988 . This remains the largest gap between Olympic appearances by a female athlete—talk about a comeback! 🥇

But her talent shone bright even before the Olympics. At just 18 and 19 years old, she was the USET National Dressage Champion (1956 and 1957). She also earned a Team Silver medal at the 1959 Pan American Games . She was the first American to wear the prestigious green leader's armband at the Aachen competition in Germany—a massive deal for the US dressage scene! 🇩🇪 .

🧠 More Than Just a Rider

Jessica’s influence doesn't stop when she dismounts. She is a legendary coach and mentor, having trained some of the biggest names in the sport, including Steffen Peters, Phillip Dutton, and her own daughter, Missy Ransehousen . As a trainer, she knows exactly what it takes to handle the pressure of the big stage.

She also took on the role of Chef d'Equipe (team manager) for the US Dressage Team at the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympic Games, where her leadership guided the team to Bronze medals in 1996 and 2000 . Her ability to switch from competitor to leader is simply inspiring.

🏆 The Ultimate Ambassador & Quirky Facts

Jessica’s passion for the sport is matched only by her passion for life. In 2009, she received the USEF Lifetime Achievement Award . She has been a high-level FEI judge and helped shape modern dressage tests—she was actually on the committee that introduced the famous "stretching circle" we see in tests today !

🦄 Here is a fun, human side to the legend: She calls everyone "Lovey." ❤️ Her students tease her because she will shout "Lovey" in the barn, and everyone turns around! She also absolutely loves dessert; she would rather skip the main meal and go straight for the cookies 🍪. While in Sydney for the Olympics, she visited a local cookie shop so often she became a "very good customer" !

Jessica Ransehousen is proof that true equestrians are timeless. From the international arena to the classroom, from the barn aisle to the boardroom, she has left hoofprints on every part of the sport.

$85 per rider for pony club members & indoor subscribers

$100 per rider for non subscribers

If you are not able to ride, we are offering auditing slots for $25 per person for the whole clinic!

Joan and Chester laid down a beautiful test today at the Plantation schooling show in preparation for Second Nature (astride) and Dunmovin (aside) at the end of the month. Their future goals are to ride aside at Dressage Days at Devon and to earn her 3rd level scores Aside for her Bronze medal.

For our 2026 clinics, we will also have a photographer on site - and at the end of the clinic season we hope to give out awards to repeat attendees!
