Supporting recovery from the ground up 🐴

At Twin Ponds, our Vitafloor combines controlled vibration with PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) therapy to support circulation, recovery, rehabilitation, and overall well-being.

An added benefit? The Vitafloor features a built-in scale, allowing us to accurately monitor changes in body weight when needed, including during medical recovery or following colic surgery.

☀️ Our solarium provides therapeutic warmth to help promote circulation, muscle relaxation, and suppleness. It can be especially useful as part of a horse’s recovery routine or simply to encourage relaxation after exercise.

How clear is our Aqua Treadmill water? 💧👀

Water quality is an important part of every Aqua Treadmill session at Twin Ponds. Our Equine Therapy International Aqua Treadmill uses a multi-filtration system to help keep the water fresh and clear throughout use.

But filtration is only part of it! Before entering the treadmill, we make sure each horse is thoroughly cleaned, especially their legs and feet, to help minimize dirt and debris entering the water.

It’s all part of maintaining the Aqua Treadmill and providing a high-quality environment for every horse that uses it. 💙

A little housekeeping for our SPL patients! 🐴💕

A subpalpebral lavage (SPL) system is a small catheter placed through the eyelid that allows ophthalmic medications to be administered frequently without having to manually apply drops or ointments each time.

Keeping those SPL braids neat and tidy helps us keep a clear eye on the line and can make things a little less itchy and tempting to rub.

First sessions can come with a few nerves, and that’s okay! 🤍

When introducing a horse to the cold saltwater treadmill for the first time, we take a gradual, step-by-step approach. Horses are given time to see and explore the space, walk through the treadmill several times, and stand quietly inside before introducing any movement.

Once they are comfortable, we slowly add each new element. The treadmill begins moving at a walk, followed by the introduction of the water, allowing it to rise gradually. Introducing each new sensation one at a time gives the horse a chance to process what is being asked, build confidence, and become comfortable with the experience.

As you can see, this girl was a little nervous at first, and that’s completely okay. Our team works hard to meet each horse where they are and give them the time and reassurance they need to feel safe and comfortable.

We can’t wait to be part of this horse and rider partnership as they work toward moving up the levels in eventing and show jumping! 🐴

☀️ Sunshine between the storms. The perfect day for turnout.

One of the many benefits of rehabilitation at Twin Ponds Farm is access to a variety of turnout options as your horse progresses through their individualized recovery plan. From small medical pens to larger grass pastures, we can gradually increase turnout as appropriate for each horse’s injury, fitness level, and stage of rehabilitation. Our facility offers multiple turnout sizes, allowing every horse’s program to be tailored to their specific needs.

Because sometimes, one of the best parts of rehab is getting to enjoy a beautiful day outside. 🌿☀️

Keeping SPL braids tidy is an important part of line care. A clean, organized braid allows us to easily monitor the line for kinks, displacement, rubbing, or other changes that may require attention, while also making it easier to assess the catheter insertion site for swelling, discharge, or irritation. It also helps reduce itching and the risk of the horse catching or damaging the line during recovery.

As a bonus, they look pretty cute too. 💞🐴
