Captain Steve’s tip- I show where I caught all my fish. This bullseye snakehead was a monster so powerful. I dragged the 30 inches (76 cm) long snakehead out of the little canal across the street from Chipotle in Coral Springs, Florida. The lure I used was a rooster tail 1/8 oz (anything bigger is too fast in retrieving for snakeheads or other fish when they are not actively hunting for small fish) on a brand new 30 pounds braided line, anything smaller will lose the big snakehead. It was right in the shallow by the shore line. I approached it quietly and cast from a good 10 feet away from the shoreline so I don’t scare the fish. Snakeheads have sharp teeth as many other fish, so don’t use your hands to remove the hooks or grab the snakeheads.

Watch my video here and learn to avoid my mistakes. The powerful fish torpedoed to the right as she struggled to free herself from my line. You can clearly hear the loud popping sound. My luck prevented my silly mistake which I lost my last snakehead catch at the pentagon water discharge a couple weeks ago. This snakehead also jumped out of my net, the first time i got her to the net. Luckily she was still hooked. I quickly brought her to the net the second time, and raised my net 3 feet out of the water as she was still jumping inside my net. She broke 3 spots of my net but luckily I won the final battle.
