This chart introduces many of the essential Korean terms used in traditional Taekwondo. Learning these terms isn’t just about memorization—it’s about developing precision, discipline, and a deeper understanding of every movement.
Some key vocabulary includes:
* Ko – Nose
* Mok – Neck
* Tok – Chin
* Son – Hand
* Sonnal – Knife-hand
* Sonkut – Fingertips
* Jumeok – Fist
* Palmok – Forearm
* Palkup – Elbow
* Myong-chi – Solar Plexus
* Habookbo – Lower Abdomen
* Murup – Knee
* Dari – Leg
* Bal – Foot
* Apchuk – Ball of the Foot
* Baldung – Instep
* Balbadak – Sole of the Foot
* Balnal – Knife-edge of the Foot

The body is also divided into three primary target zones:
* Olgul – High Section (Head & Face)
* Momtong – Middle Section (Torso)
