JP NEVER forgot to thank the “spirit squad” at every game! Thanks JP 💙🫶🏻🐺

Joe Partington, a long time member of the Lake City High School community and sports community has retired. His career began at Kennedy Catholic High in Washington State, and then from there he moved to Idaho teaching at Kellogg High, and eventually taught at Coeur d’Alene High.

We here at Lake City, have had the privilege and honor having JP here at since the school opened.

JP has been our Latin educator, and has been a coach for football, basketball, and track and field. You could always see Joe in the football press box, sitting at the basketball and volleyball scorers table, doing what he does best. Announcing the games.

One of my fondest memories with JP was going into his classroom and talking to him before his class, and hearing his stories. I would help him out by passing out his books on each desk and he always awarded me by giving me a sweet treat. And I’m sure he would share the sweets with his classes as he would with anyone.

And before any game started he would always be there to chat with me and check on my family, and of course wish the teams good luck.

JP was known by all at Lake City High School and if you were ever a student or employee at Lake City then you knew JP. JP is a friend to all and always gave encouragement by high fives, fist bumps, and “atta-baby” in the hallways.

Lake City High, the sports community of North Idaho and the community of Coeur d’Alene will miss you JP. Thank you JP.

Oh yeah … if you have any good memories with JP post and share them in the comments!
