After running A MARATHON yesterday, my client today was treated to a massage by her thoughtful friend to support her recovery. What a beautiful way to celebrate a huge accomplishment! Thank you for choosing Nourish to be part of her recovery gift. Here’s to strong women, supportive friendships, and taking time to care for ourselves.

Train With Joan is an inspiration to us all. You can truly change your life and health if you decide to take action.

At 70, Joan MacDonald struggled to climb a flight of stairs without becoming exhausted.
At 80, she lifts weights that many people half her age would find intimidating. ❤️
Ten years ago, Joan weighed nearly 200 pounds and was dealing with high blood pressure, acid reflux, high cholesterol, swollen ankles and declining mobility.
She had already undergone a knee replacement, and even ordinary movement was becoming harder.
Then her doctor told her that her blood pressure medication might need to be increased.
Her daughter Michelle, a fitness coach, gave her another option.
Try changing the way you live.
Joan agreed.
She renewed her gym membership, bought a food scale and joined a group of women learning about strength training and nutrition.
The beginning was anything but glamorous.
Her first workouts left her breathless. She had to learn unfamiliar exercises, understand nutrition and even become comfortable using technology to follow her daughter's programs.
But she kept showing up. ❤️
Fifteen minutes became longer workouts.
Light weights became heavier ones.
And slowly, the woman who struggled on the stairs began getting stronger.
Over time, Joan lost around 70 pounds, roughly 32 kilos. By 2018, she said she was no longer taking the medications that had once been part of her daily routine.
But the transformation didn't stop when the weight came off.
Joan kept training.
Today, at 80, she performs deadlifts, strength exercises and movements that would have seemed impossible to her at 70. 💪
Her story has also grown far beyond the gym.
More than 2 million people now follow her online, many of them watching because Joan challenges one assumption again and again:
getting older doesn't automatically mean giving up strength.
She didn't transform in 30 days.
She didn't find a miracle shortcut.
She simply kept making better choices long enough for them to become a different life.
If you knew that the strongest version of yourself might still be ten years ahead of you, what would you start doing differently today?

For the women who have filled in the “why” on the new intake forms, I’ve noticed something insightful.

Not of names.
Not of diagnoses.
Just a few words so far.

Relax.
Decompress.
Less pain.
Stress relief.
Rest.
Release tension.
Pampered.
Relax physically and mentally.
Self-care.

A few words, yet somehow, they say so much.

Because women rarely come to the massage table because they want a massage.

They come carrying things that don’t always have a place to be set down.

The ache they’ve learned to work around.
The shoulders they’ve forgotten how to lower.
The jaw they’ve been clenching.
The exhaustion they keep calling “just a busy week.”
The constant hum of responsibility.
They need touch without needing to give anything back.

Sometimes less pain means being able to sleep.

Sometimes rest means sixty minutes of not being needed.

Sometimes pampered means remembering that care doesn’t always have to be earned.

And sometimes self-care is simply saying:

I matter, too.

So I read these little words on intake forms differently now.

They aren’t just reasons for a massage.

They’re little declarations.

I need relief.
I need rest.
I need to come back to myself.

And that’s one of the quiet gifts of this work.

Thank you for choosing Nourish for your place to just exhale. 🧡

This one stung when I first heard it. Then it changed everything.

Because your health is not a personal hobby. Your kids depend on your energy. Your spouse depends on your years. Your clients, your team, your parents. Everybody in your life is quietly relying on a body you keep putting last.

Self care got marketed to us as bubble baths. It's not. It's strength training. It's protein. It's sleep. It's the boring stuff that makes you dependable for decades.

You're not being selfish by taking care of yourself. You're being selfish by not.

Take care of the body other people are counting on
