Big, strong, intense, and willing to step into any fight or challenge put in front of me. Before the crossover between amateur wrestling, professional wrestling, and MMA became the blueprint, I was already walking that path.

I didn’t follow the blueprint.

I helped create it.

I couldn't shut my brain off again last night and the last time I looked at the clock it was 1am....again!! The alarm went off at 6, but I didn't. I floundered in bed fighting with myself. I got up, made my bed, and still made it into the weight room by 7. I still got my Dirty Dozen in and actually I did "two extra" exercises that I call "The Dirty Dozen"! LOL Have a Beastly Day! Your Commander, and Chief.....The Beast!

I didn’t just walk into the Octagon—I carried a piece of professional wrestling history with me.

Being able to carry a professional wrestling championship belt into the UFC Octagon was something that had never been done before. I was proud to represent both worlds that helped shape my career: professional wrestling and mixed martial arts.

That belt wasn’t just a prop. It represented hard work, sacrifice, and years of fighting to earn my place.

October 8, 1994: UWFi "The King's Road"
On this exact day in history, Dan Severn traveled to Budokan Hall in Tokyo, Japan, to compete for the Union of Wrestling Forces International (UWFi). Because it was a major event, "The Beast" remarkably fought twice on the same night in two separate high-profile tag team matches:

1. Match 1 (Loss): Dan Severn teamed up with Billy Scott in a losing effort against Hiromitsu Kaneharaand the legendary future PRIDE/MMA veteran Yoshihiro Takayama
2. Match 2 (Win): Returning to the ring later that evening, Severn teamed up with powerhouse wrestler Gary Albright to secure a massive victory over two icon figures of Japanese MMA and combat sports history: Nobuhiko Takada and Kiyoshi Tamura.

Which is safer — cage fighting or professional wrestling? 🤔

In MMA, the punches and submissions are real. In professional wrestling, the outcome may be predetermined, but the bumps, falls, and physical punishment are very real.

So which is safer? That depends on the training, the people involved, and how seriously they respect the risks.
