Hang out with us tomorrow morning for the Sunday Shakeout at 8:00 AM. We hear it’ll be a cool 54 degrees tomorrow, not here of course, but in Anchorage, Alaska.

Anyhow,

Everyone is welcome! We’ll be doing run/walk intervals. This method makes the 4 mile run feel effortless and enjoyable.

Today's Monday Member Spotlight is our Director of Running Operations, Thomas Overman!!

1. What got you into running?

I've had a hot and cold relationship with running most of my life. I was a walker in gym class and it wasnt until I was in high school I ever ran a mile straight. I got the itch to run and began going to OCRs about once a month until I started powerlifting. I stopped running completely and wouldnt run consistently again until I decided I wanted to do a marathon. The past 2 years not a week has gone by where I havent run.

2. Why did you join BRC?

I am an intrinsically motivated runner so I never imagined I would want to be part of a run club, but when my Father In Law started attending BRC it raised the intrest for my household to attend. After coming about 6 weeks we enjoyed it so much it became a non negotiable for our schedule.

3. If you could share any fact about yourself what would it be?

I finished my Aggie Ring Dunk in 12 seconds

4. Who is your running inspiration?

4. Andy Glaze. When I got into running he started populating on my feed, and now I cant get enough of this lunatic. "Smile or your doing it wrong" his motto changes my mood on a dime while im out on a long run.

Today's Monday Member Spotlight is Brazos Runners Club Secretary, Alexis Ponce!!

1. What got you into running?

A friend invited me to join her and another friend for 4:00 a.m. runs back in 2021, and that's when I started running consistently. Those early mornings were rough, but I always felt better afterward. No more 4ams runs though! 😅 What really kept me running, though, was finding BRC and having people to run with. I've done the BCS Half Marathon for the past three years, and with the support and encouragement from the running community, I finally found the courage to run my first full marathon in December 2025. Nowadays I look forward for the runs to socialize afterwards. 💕

2. What does the Brazos Runners Club mean to you?

BRC is a community. We support each other, celebrate accomplishments, and are always willing to share advice about races, trail running, shoes, gear, and training. Whether you're chasing a new goal or just showing up for a run, there's always someone cheering you on. :tada::confetti_ball:

3. If you could share any fact about yourself, what would it be?

I was born with a solitary left kidney. It does the work of two and works perfectly, so it's never stopped me from doing anything I wanted to do.

4. Who's your running inspiration (last slide!)?

She’s been my inspiration since I first started running. My 4am partner. At 55, she shows up for every mile and keeps me accountable for the races we commit to. We ran BCS 2025 together for our first marathon—she ran a 4:15 and I finished in 4:58.

Berlin Marathon 2026 is next for me. Chasing a PR and hoping to close the gap to 4:15.

This pride month, Brazos Runners Club wants to reaffirm our commitment to creating welcoming spaces for all runners. We celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and want to wish everyone a happy pride month.

No matter whether you’ve been running one day or 100 days, we are glad you’re here. ❤️
