1) FOLLOW UP!!!
2) FOLLOW THROUGH!!

Mean what you say, say what you mean!
Build trust by honoring your commitments!

If you say you will do something, follow up and follow through! It's the fastest way to build trust => to actually DO what you say you are going to do!

Remember: leadership is about influence!

How do you grow your influence? How do you move up from a Level 1 or Level 2 leader? Here are 3 tips:

1) Get the RIGHT results!
-The right things mean "for the greater good" you are achieving those results!
-Who cares if you are winning if your team is losing!
-Get out of your world and see the big picture. Focus on helping your TEAM win and get the RIGHT results!!
-Be a team player!

2) Focus on Effectiveness vs Efficiency!
-Effective = doing the RIGHT things... vs Efficient = doing things RIGHT!
-We need both!
-So be sure to intentionally take time to sharpen the saw to cut down the tree!
-AND!!!!!! be sure you are cutting down the RIGHT tree!!!
3) Problem Solve as a Team!

-Ideas are like little kids... others are nice, but we like our own the best!
-So work as a TEAM to problem solve!
-Work TOGETHER!
-T.E.A.M. => Together Everyone Achieves More!

Your people aren't getting the vision?

DON'T GET FRUSTRATED.
Get patient, repetitive, & CLEAR!

One of the biggest mistakes I see leaders make is assuming:

“I already told them that.”

Okay…
But did they actually HEAR it?
Do they understand it?
Can they repeat it?

There’s a BIG difference between saying something and actually getting the message to LAND!

An extremely underrated book you probably haven't heard of is Patrick Lencioni’s first book, The Four Obsessions of an Extraordinary Executive.

His third discipline is:
OVERCOMMUNICATE ORGANIZATIONAL CLARITY!

You and your Leadership Team might spend HOURS getting clear on the Vision, 90-day priorities, roles, and where you're going.

Great!

But how do you get that clarity OUT of the Leadership Team and SHARED BY ALL?

Here are 4 practical ways:
1️⃣ REPETITION!

Repetition is the mother of learning.
Sometimes people have to hear something 7 times to hear it the first time!
When your people aren't getting it…
Don't get frustrated.
Get patient. Get repetitive. Get clear!

2️⃣ SIMPLIFY!
If you CONFUSE, you LOSE!
Sometimes when our people aren't moving forward, we assume it's an ex*****on problem.
But maybe they simply don't understand!
Simplify the language and the message.
Create CRYSTAL. CLEAR. CLARITY.

3️⃣ USE MULTIPLE MEDIUMS!

Text. Email. Phone call. Loom. Face-to-face. Your weekly Level 10 Meeting.
Everybody receives information differently.
Don't just repeat the message.
Change HOW you deliver it!

4️⃣ CASCADE THE MESSAGE!
This one is HUGE!
Your Leadership Team gets together every 90 days.
You clarify the Vision.
Set the 90-day priorities.
Get aligned around what matters most.

But what about everyone who WASN'T in that room?
Before you leave, ask:
WHO needs to communicate this?
To WHOM?
HOW?
WHEN?
WHERE?

Take 5 minutes and get clear on how the message will cascade throughout the organization.

Because your job as a leader isn't just to HAVE clarity.
Your job is to CREATE clarity!

A challenge for you:
If you want to become an extraordinary executive…
Get better at OVERCOMMUNICATING THE VISION!
Repeat yourself.
Keep it simple.
Use multiple channels.
Cascade the message.
And when you start thinking…
“I've already said this 100 times!”
GOOD! Say it again!

CLARITY → ALIGNMENT → EX*****ON → TRACTION!
