Do you wish you could spend time being around horses in between work or classes? Do you have a teenager at home who wants to work with horses when they get older? Do you want a peaceful spot in South College Station to be out in nature for a few hours each week?

Well look no further! We are opening up applications for our volunteer program! Our volunteers work alongside our experienced staff two shifts a week feeding horses, cleaning stalls, and performing general barn chores. No experience needed. We all have to start somewhere. Why not start your equine career with us?

Spanning nearly 1,000 acres of private post oak savannah on the south side of College Station, Millican Reserve offers a carefully maintained equestrian trail system just minutes from Bryan-College Station. 🌿

The Trails:
🏞30 miles of interconnecting equestrian, hiking, and biking trails
🍃Terrain is smooth and well-maintained through woodlands, open meadows, and quiet creek beds
🔆Trails open daily from sunrise to sundown
🗺️Trails close during and immediately after rain — check status before hauling
👟 Shoe Requirement: Trail surfaces are well-maintained and generally smooth

🎫 DayPass — single visit access $5, purchase online prior to visit
🎫 TrailPass — approximately $10/month, year-round trail access

🚛 Trailer Parking: Large grass field at the Farm Entrance off FM 2154 — follow signs to Basecamp. Do not proceed past the Farm Gate.

Starting our new tradition out strong, I am thrilled to announce that our July 2026 Employee of the Month goes to Tatum!

Tatum is one of the hardest working people I have ever had the pleasure to be on a team with! She comes in every single day with an amazing attitude and so much love for these horses. She cares so deeply for each horse and loves to interact with the boarders who come out during our feed shifts. She is always going above and beyond for everyone at the barn and never loses that smile. It doesn't matter if it's 100+ degrees outside or if she is called for a last-minute shift cover; Tatum is always thrilled to be out here working her tail off!

When asked about her time at the barn Tatum said: "I started working here in December 2025 due to wanting to get more experience with horses, and have fallen in love with the close knit community here. All of the boarders, tenets, and staff are so kind and I love working alongside them. I also love caring for all of your fur babies, and providing them with the best care and support that I can give!"

In August Tatum will be departing to her next adventure of vet school in the Caribbean! We will miss her dearly but look forward to hearing all of the amazing stories she gets from her three years in school! Make sure you wish her luck in her new adventure if you see her out and also congratulate her for being recognized for all of her tireless work around the barn!

Jaxx brings a love of horses, hands-on barn experience, and great enthusiasm for the barn community. We’re excited to have her joining the team and helping continue the fun and welcoming environment at the Stables.

We also want to thank Krista for her years of dedication and care at the Stables. We’re grateful for all she has contributed over the years, and we’re glad she’ll still be around this place from time to time!
