These photos are from the same session with a high-level studio dancer. The change you see isn't just about "stretching more." It's the result of improving how the body coordinates movement, reducing restrictions, and helping the athlete access range of motion that better supports the demands of their sport.
For dancers, mobility isn't optional. It influences technique, control, power production, and injury risk. But chasing more range without understanding how the body uses it can create its own set of problems.
That's why our focus is always on assessing the athlete first, identifying what's limiting performance, and building interventions that create meaningful changes...not just temporary improvements.

One of the things that sets ATR Sports Medicine apart is the amount of intention that goes into every evaluation.
When an athlete or active adult comes in for an assessment, we intentionally block off more time than needed to truly understand the full picture. We believe thorough evaluations matter because lasting results come from identifying the why behind the issue, not simply chasing temporary relief.
That process takes conversation, movement analysis, education, and careful attention to how the body is functioning as a whole. Our goal is not only to reduce pain, but to help create long-term healing, improved movement quality, and confidence moving forward.
We take that responsibility seriously, and we never want anyone to feel rushed through the process.

The goal isn’t just to reduce your pain. The goal is to understand why the problem exists and what it takes to get you back to performing at your highest level.
At ATR Sports Medicine, every athlete starts with a thorough evaluation. We look at movement quality, strength, mobility, stability, and sport-specific demands to identify what’s actually limiting performance. From there, we build a plan based on objective findings, not guesswork.
Whether you're dealing with a current injury or recurring pain the focus is always the same: helping you move better, perform better, and return to your sport with confidence.

This exercise is called a Serratus Prayer, and while it may look simple, there’s a lot more happening than just moving weight.
This athlete is a baseball player working through lat pain, which is a common issue in overhead athletes due to the demands throwing places on the body. In this case, we’re focusing on improving scapular stability while integrating breathing mechanics to help the rib cage expand and move more efficiently.
Why does that matter? Because the shoulder, scapula, rib cage, and trunk all work together during throwing. If one area is not moving or stabilizing well, the body will often compensate somewhere else, which can eventually lead to irritation, overload, and lingering pain.
At ATR Sports Medicine, rehab is about understanding how the entire system works together, not just chasing symptoms at the site of pain.
If your athlete has been dealing with lingering shoulder, elbow, or lat discomfort, it may be time for a more individualized evaluation and plan.

At ATR Sports Medicine, our approach is built around practical rehab, objective progressions, and movement strategies that actually translate to sport and performance. The goal is not just helping athletes recover from injury ...it's helping them return with confidence, durability, and a better understanding of how their body moves.
Rehab should challenge athletes appropriately, prepare them for real competition demands, and create long-term success beyond simply getting "cleared" to play again.
That’s the standard we believe athletes deserve.

Most athletes don’t just need to "stretch more."
They need a plan.
At ATR Sports Medicine, we focus on addressing the underlying issues affecting the athlete's ability to perform. We believe rehab should be progressive, sport-specific, and built around the actual demands an athlete faces when they return to competition.
That’s why our process emphasizes movement quality, measurable progress, and return-to-play standards that go beyond simply “feeling okay.”
The objective is long-term performance and confidence .... never temporary fixes.

Not all rehab is created equal because not all athletes move, compete, or recover the same way.
At ATR Sports Medicine, we believe return-to-play decisions should be based on measurable criteria measurable data, functional movement, and the actual demands of an athlete’s sport ...not just timelines or symptom relief.
That means looking at strength, control, movement quality, confidence, and performance readiness before an athlete steps back onto the field or court.
Rehab should prepare athletes for the reality of competition.
