Hands and feet have to work together. Footwork matters way more than people think. Balance too.

If your feet are all over the place, nothing else is going to work right. You’ll end up reaching on punches, falling over yourself, crossing your feet, and wasting energy.

Drills like this are what actually build people into solid strikers over time. Not just trying to throw hard every round or some flashy new combo you saw on IG.

The foundational stuff matters. A lot. We spend lots of time on this.

No fancy video effects or dramatic music on this one. Just the sound of people putting in work.

Repetition builds muscle memory, timing, reactions, and good habits. That’s how real improvement happens over time.

All skill levels welcome.

*Coaching Update*

Starting this next week, Dylan Dalton will be coaching two of our Gi classes each week.
Dylan is a black belt under Josh and Steve McKinney, and this has honestly always been part of the long-term vision for the gym. The goal was never for everything to run through just me forever. The goal was to build trusted people inside the room who could help grow strong programs the right way.

Anyone who knows Dylan knows how passionate he is about jiu-jitsu. He studies the sport constantly, pays attention to small details that matter, and has a very analytical approach to coaching and competition. If you’ve ever heard him corner someone during a match, you already know the level of thought and care he puts into it.

This is going to make the Gi program instantly better, make the competition team better, and allow me to put even more focus into the other areas of the gym while continuing to grow everything together.

Honestly, I’m genuinely excited about this.

Having longtime CMMA teammates helping build the foundation at Legacy Mixed Martial Arts is a very cool thing for me personally. Between myself, Aaron Brown, and Dylan Dalton, we now get to pass along what we learned to the next generation.

To me, Legacy is about building your own story, purpose, and craft, then passing that on to the next generation and giving people the same kind of outlet, growth, mentorship, and direction that martial arts gave to us. That is a huge fundamental reason I decided to open this place.

To see the lineage and culture from our original gym being carried forward into modern times, and to now be in a position to give back what martial arts gave to us, really makes me grateful and happy.

I’m excited for you guys to learn from him.

We’ve only officially been open about a month, but I honestly feel like we’re building something special here.

We have people with years of experience and people who just started training all learning together in the same room. The people showing up consistently and putting in the work have already made major improvements in a short amount of time.

That’s what real structure mixed with consistent effort does. You earn what you put in.

More importantly, the culture and team atmosphere are starting to come together the way I hoped they would.

If you’ve been thinking about starting, there’s still room for you here.

A huge thank you to blackbelt Justin Stouder, my teammate from Revive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, for coming out to visit us and showing off some great technique to my students this evening.
