Enjoy The Ride, Weight Loss Outdoors
Real life weight loss journey. Started at 462 lbs and building a healthier life through movement and the outdoors. You are welcome here!
Hikes, workouts, monthly 5Ks, and progress over perfection.
Your pace was never the problem.
The forecast said the window would hold. It didn’t. Here’s the rule I use when thunder hits mid-hike.
Part of Enjoy The Ride is not just starting at the Trailhead but also at the Starting Line. Every month I run a 5k and I challenge myself to set a new PR time every race. June 5k episode will be on YT soon!
I’m over the excuses… time to find out what I can do.
I’ve picked trails this way for a while, just never had a name for it until Regina said it in the comments: lollipop loop. Turning around isn’t failure. It still counts!
43:39. April was 48:11 at 320 pounds. Today I’m 285. Thirty-five pounds and four and a half minutes in three months. Six weeks to Cañon City. Full story is on YouTube coming soon .

Three years ago, I hiked the Paint Mines, and it took everything I had.
I made it. I saw it. But I spent most of it thinking about the walk back up.
Yesterday I went back. Same canyon, same climb out, red and gold spires on the flattest ground in Colorado. Nine thousand years of people out there, and nobody painted any of it.
This time I wasn't thinking about the climb. I was just looking at it.
462 down to where I am now. Over 170 pounds. No surgery, no shortcuts, no GLP-1s. A doctor, a nutritionist, a trainer, and a whole lot of miles.
That's what the weight was taking. Not the trail. I got there either way. It was taking the part where you get to enjoy it.
Trails That Count, Episode 12, is live on YouTube.
Nobody Painted the Paint Mines Colorado's eastern plains are as flat and plain as it gets. And the...
Nobody painted this.
That’s the part I can’t get over.
Trails That Count is where the training meets the trail. Real miles, real history, real views.
