What If the Life You’re Trying So Hard to Hold Together Isn’t the Life You’re Meant to Build? 08/12/2026

I’ve been sitting with this question:

How many five-year decisions are we making based on five-minute fears?

I wrote about it today — and it’s also the conversation I want to bring into our leadership luncheon this Friday.

Because leadership starts with being willing to ask ourselves the questions we’d rather avoid.

What are you holding onto because it feels safe… that may no longer fit who you’re becoming?

What If the Life You’re Trying So Hard to Hold Together Isn’t the Life You’re Meant to Build? Sometimes survival can look a lot like stability—until you realize it may be costing you the life you’re actually here to live.

What good is a personal brand if you have to disappear inside it?

Somewhere along the way, many people began treating a personal platform like a digital billboard.

Post the title.
Post the company.
Post the product.
Post the proof.
Post the pitch.

And yes, people should know what you do.

But that is rarely the only reason they continue to follow you.

They follow because of how you make them think.

What you believe.

What you stand for.

What you are building.

How you handle hard things.

And whether something in your story helps them see possibility in their own.

A personal brand should reveal the person.

Not just the polished version.
Not just the job title.
Not just the business.

The actual person.

The passions.
The convictions.
The humor.
The failures.
The lessons.
The purpose that keeps calling them forward.

People do business with people they know, like, and trust.

And they cannot truly know you if all you ever show them is what you sell.

That does not mean your business should be invisible.

It means your business should be woven into the larger story of who you are, what you value, and how you lead.

The strongest leaders do not simply promote what they do.

They demonstrate what they believe.

They live their values where people can see them.

They lead by example.

And they give others permission to stop performing and begin showing up authentically.

Because the right people are not drawn to a twenty-four-hour commercial pretending to be a person.

They are drawn to clarity.
Purpose.
Courage.
Humanity.
And someone they can believe in.

Does your personal brand reveal who you truly are—or only what you want people to buy?

What are you assuming?

One of the easiest things we can do is decide that we already know why someone acted the way they did.

We fill in the blanks.
We assign a motive.
We build an entire story in our minds.

Then we respond—not to the person standing in front of us—but to the version of them we have created.

That is where division begins.

Leadership asks us to pause long enough to consider that there may be something we do not know.

What am I assuming?
What might I be missing?
What else could be true?
Am I trying to understand—or am I trying to prove that I am right?

Curiosity does not excuse poor behavior. It does not eliminate accountability, boundaries, or difficult conversations.

It simply allows us to enter those conversations with a clearer mind and a better chance of creating a different outcome.

I have watched relationships, teams, and conversations shift because one person was willing to stop judging long enough to ask a better question.

That is leadership.

Not winning the argument.
Not proving someone wrong.
Not gathering people who already agree with us.

Leadership is having the courage to create understanding where division would be easier.

Real Talk: Who are you judging from a distance that you may need to get curious about up close?

Which road are you choosing today?

Leadership is not really tested when everything is going your way.

It is tested when the client does not call you back.
When the deal begins to fall apart.
When someone questions your value.
When you feel disappointed, overlooked, frustrated, or afraid.

Those are the moments when we choose our road.

We can react from emotion.
We can match someone else’s energy.
We can allow fear, pride, or frustration to decide what happens next.

Or we can step back, look at the situation through a different lens, and ask:

Who do I want to be in this moment?

Choosing the high road does not mean staying silent, ignoring poor behavior, or pretending something does not hurt.

It means we refuse to hand someone else control over our character.

It means we tell the truth without losing ourselves in the process.
We hold boundaries without becoming bitter.
We take the next step even when fear is telling us to stay exactly where we are.

I have learned that fear is not always a stop sign. Many times, it is pointing directly toward the conversation, decision, or action that has the power to change everything.

Leadership begins when we stop waiting to feel ready and decide to move anyway.

Real Talk: Where are you allowing fear or frustration to choose the road for you—and what would the best version of you do next?

Lead Yourself. Lead Others. Leave a Legacy.

Leadership Growth Begins With One Conversation.

Every successful career, every meaningful relationship, every breakthrough, and every great leader can often be traced back to a single conversation.

As Realtors, we spend our days helping others navigate some of life's biggest decisions. But who is investing in our growth as leaders?

Last month's Leadership Luncheon brought together an incredible group of professionals who shared ideas, challenged perspectives, encouraged one another, and reminded us that leadership isn't about titles—it's about influence.

We're doing it again, and I'd love for you to join us.

📅 Friday, August 14
🕛 12:00–1:30 PM
📍 Core Title Group LLC
101 S. Sahwatch Street, Suite 212
Colorado Springs, CO 80903

Whether you're a brand-new agent or a seasoned professional, this is an opportunity to step away from the daily hustle, build meaningful relationships with fellow Realtors, and invest in becoming the kind of leader our industry needs.

Because the future of real estate won't be shaped by those with the loudest voice.

It will be shaped by those willing to grow, serve, and lead.

If you'd like to join the conversation, comment LEAD below or send me a message. We'd love to save you a seat.

If you stopped selling homes today, what income would your business still produce five years from now?

That question made me stop and think.

In an episode of *The Millionaire Real Estate Agent Podcast*, Jeannette Spinelli shares how she sold nearly $3 billion in real estate—yet eventually realized she had built what she calls a **“gorgeous cage.”**

The income was there.
The awards were there.
The success was real.

But the business still depended on her.

Here’s my Real Talk takeaway:

Real estate is the vehicle. It is not the purpose.

We don’t build businesses simply to sell more homes or collect more awards. We build them to create the income, freedom and choices that allow us to support our families, pursue what matters and live the lives we were meant to live.

If the business consumes the very life it was supposed to support, something needs to change.

This week, write down three responsibilities in your business that currently depend entirely on you. Choose one that could eventually be systemized, delegated or eliminated—and take one step toward making that happen.

Then ask yourself:

If your business gave you back that time, what would you make room for in your life?

Leadership isn't about having people follow you.

It's about giving people a reason to believe.

Believe in themselves.

Believe in what's possible.

Believe that integrity still matters.

Believe that one person really can create change.

Purpose isn't a destination.

It's a daily decision.

Every conversation.

Every commitment.

Every action.

Every day.

Because at the end of our lives, people won't remember what we said we believed.

They'll remember how we showed up.

So here's my question for you...

How are your actions introducing you to the world today?

Great businesses don't create great leaders.

Great leaders create great businesses.

If you're a real estate professional who believes growth starts with you, I'd love to invite you to something new.

I'm launching Join the Conversation | Leadership Luncheon—a monthly gathering for growth-minded real estate professionals who want to strengthen their leadership, build better businesses, and learn alongside other leaders who believe iron sharpens iron.

🗓 Friday, July 10, 2026
🕛 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM
📍 Downtown Colorado Springs (Registered attendees will receive the exact location and parking details approximately 48 hours before the event.)
