Yesterday at Speedo Sectionals in Roseville CA - a blazing fast 500 freestyle clocked in with a 4:05:76. 3rd fastest performance in the history of the event. By a 16 year old. These splits are crazy fast.

I saw this visual and it really resonated with me. Key takeaway? There’s no substitute for good, solid, nutrition. I’m not saying supplements don’t have their place or aren’t important. But before you start adding another supplement to your stack, first determine if you can obtain the nutrients you’re looking for via a whole food source.

I talk to a lot of athletes about nutrition - and it's quite common for athletes to be taking supplements. Prescribed, or through their own research. I take a few myself! However, there's a lot of hype out there around supplementation and athletic performance.
When in doubt, talk to a professional. Find a Registered Dietician, or speak to your physician. Not all supplements are necessary, or helpful for that matter.
